My husband, son and his girlfriend and I were staying in San Juan, and decided to rent a car and tour around the island. We figured we would stay one nite somewhere, but no clue where. After a day of sightseeing, and getting close to 4 pm..we thought time to find a place. As we drove past Parador Villa..we all yelled stop here. As the pictures show, its a little paradise. The two ocean front rooms were under $200. (mid week) As the reviews already state...the rooms are dated, but clean. But we werent here for a romantic weekend. The grounds are manicured, and very inviting...little loungers and tables outside the rooms to sit and gaze at the ocean and boats. FYI there is no beach access..you need to go next door and arrange a boat to take you to an island and pick you up, which we did for $10 ea. Ask to go to the island that has the bathroom. Service in the restaurant like all of PR is slow..seems they have 2 speeds..slow and stop everywhere on the island. Food was ok. Do check out some of the other eateries on the little street...Def beach town vibe...and would like to return again.

Room Tip: oceanfront..ground floor

Parador is the best hotel option in La Parguera. Remember this is not a star rated hotel, nor a boutique type. It is a clean an quaint small inn at very reasonable prices. If you select an ocean view room it is worth the extra $10. The rooms are small and definitely dated. No queen nor king beds, just one or two double beds per room. The gardens are well trimmed and maintained but nothing fancy. The hotel is walking distance to some of the action in La Parguera, including access to the various phophoforescent bay tours. The bioluminiscent waters of Lajas are a unique treasure only found in Puerto Rico and a select few place in the world.

Room Tip: Try a second floor for the ocean view and privacy.

I selected this hotel on the location which was excellent. We were here to take advantage of the beautiful water and islands off the coast and not stay in our hotel room. It is right in the center of town and close to all the boats which will take you snorkeling, scuba diving, mangrove tours and the great little islands. The property is nicely kept and landscaping is pretty but it is not a five star hotel. The views of the bay are excellent! We were there on Tuesday through Thursday morning and the little town and hotel was very quiet and empty. We heard that the town gets quite lively on the weekends and we could see it coming alive as we left. The room was just average... it was clean but needed updating (like those old polyester bedspreads which I hate) and the bed was not very comfortable. I liked the area so much that I would probably stay here again.

I have to agree with some of the earlier reviews, that Villa Parguera has probably seen better days. We had a garden room that was just adequate. It can get quite noisy on the weekends, when the locals come for the music and dancing; I'd try to avoid a Sat or Sun stay. They seem to cater to larger travel groups, so breakfast and lunch was served buffet style while we were there. Breakfast was ok...dinner not so much. Check out Los Balcones about 100 meters in to town for a nice balcony overlooking the plaza and harbor. Good pizza and mofongo, the local specialty. All that said, it's a good location for birding in the south west part of PR, which was our chief goal.

It probably depends on the room, but we were on 2nd floor a bit off of the pool. Our room was what I will call retro chic! Not "modern", but definitely tropical attractive, immaculate, decent sized, with a good bed and great view. Flat screen tv and wifi in the room! We had both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, (partly because of a deluge and partly because Monday and Tuesday are days when most places close) which was really pretty good for both, with pleasant service. Parking convenient,

Room Tip: Second floor ocean front have beautiful views and wifi!
