“Huge increase in price!”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

We stayed here just over a year ago, had a great time and thought we may return, however I'm astonished to see that the room rate has increased from £125 a night to £160 for the same room. Shame because at £125 it was about right, but £160??

Thank you for your comments I wanted to clarify the increase in room rate over the last 2 years. Our special out of season rate for this bedroom at the end of October 2012 was £130 per night , the 2012 summer rates were £150 per night including tea and cake upon arrival, breakfast and VAT. During 2013 I increased the room rate by £5 to £155 and for this year 2014 to £160. Huge price increase seems a little unfair. Here at Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse we offer our guests an all inclusive rate and hope that they can enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere we try to create at this unique and very special place.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights on the occasion of my son's wedding (which took place in the Herb garden of Chapel Down vineyard). Everything about the recently refurbished Farmhouse was absolutely first class, from the friendly welcome by Ruby the Labrador closely followed by her owner to the superb locally sourced freshly cooked full English breakfasts. Quite simply the best hotel/guesthouse we have ever stayed in. Other members of the wedding party, including my son and his best man, agreed.
We were too busy to fully enjoy the grounds and nearby castle garden but as members of the National Trust we intend to return to the area next year and will stay here again if we can.

Room Tip: We stayed in Maplehurst, which had dual aspects over the lawn/countryside as well as the entrance/dr...

My friend and I spent three nights here, using it as a base to visit gardens and other attractions close by. The farmhouse was an excellent place to stay - central location in Kent, spotlessly clean rooms with nice duvets and full baths and beautifully prepared breakfasts each day. Eggs and sausage from nearby farms, homemade granola and jam, and fresh fruit. The tables had all english china making the room pleasant to be in. The windows look out onto the grounds, so all you see is the lawn and rolling hills beyond. You are within close walking distance to Sissinghurst and can walk to several pubs if you like for dinner. The proprietor is extremely helpful in her recommendations for what to do and where to eat and has many recent magazine and maps in the sitting room to help you plan your days. Book ahead as this B and B books up far in advance - for good reason.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and large.

We stayed in the Sissinghurst Farmhouse (Hampstead room) for three nights in September.
It is a beautiful house with nicely furnished rooms on the first floor and downstairs a lounge and a breakfast room. The Full English English breakfast was great to start the day with a selection of fresh fruit and juices.
Our host gave us a warm welcome also helped us during our stay with walks, tips and maps and she book a room in a B&B on our way to Stansted, The local pubs are provided in the comprehensive guide in the room. Everything was there to make our stay pleasant. The price is a little steep but then this is an outstanding location. Minor point is that bathroom is small and the shower is not very practical

My wife and I visited the Castle Farmhouse in August. We stayed one night. (Big Mistake). Should have stayed 2 or 3 nights. Wow, this place is super. The host was right there to make you feel welcome when one enters the front door. The rooms are very nice and large. Our room had a king size bed. The house is gorgeous and the grounds are perfect to enjoy. About a two minute walk to the castle. This place is not to be missed. The Castle and gardens are not to be missed. Go up in the tower and overlook the beautiful gardens. I cannot tell you how pretty the gardens here are. Also, greeted by the black Lab dog, (Ruby), who is as friendly as a welcoming committee. The breakfast was good and served very well by the hosts. Definitely, put this place on your bucket list...

Stayed here for two nights in Aug, the third time we had stayed. The room was nice, not huge like a corner one we had earlier but still really nice with interesting bits and bobs. The bathroom was a bit odd, just a shower in a cupboard but it worked fine.

Out the window of course was a brilliant view over the Castle and rather nice Kentish countryside. We sat in the garden the next day and had tea and cake, a bit like staying in a country farm house.

Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked specially for us, and loads of home made jams.

We mainly stay here cos my wife loves the National Trust gardens that you can walk to, but actually if you are looking for a bed anywhere near here, then this is a lovely place.

We walked across the fields to the Three Chimneys for dinner which was also very good. It is really dark walking back in the dark in the countryside (surprise!)

Stayed two nights in Maplehurst room like the last reviewer. Room, service and breakfast all good quality and, as for the price, you are paying for the location where as members of the NT we were able to make multiple visits to the gardens to avoid the peak times. The only caveat is that there does not seem to be a great choice of nearby places for an evening meal - we chose one from the list provided and were not impressed although booking appeared essential.. I guess we saw it at its best with long rainless days.
