“What a great surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2011

I had no idea that The National Trust owned bed and breakfast places and so the Sisinghurst Castle Farm House was a delight to discover. We spent 3 nights here at the end of July and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is a beautiful house and Sue is quite rightly proud of its unique position right next to the gardens and the glorious views from every room in the house. Its tastefully decorated bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious and served with great charm by Sue and her staff. Sue herself is very knowledgeable about the area and happy to share ideas for days out
So, to summarise: a great, comfortable place to stay for those who crave something better than a chain hotel. I'd certainly recommend it whole-heartedly and look forward to returning.

This is a 'top of the market' B&B, priced accordingly. Its location is in the heart of one of the most visited parts of Kent. It did not disappoint. My wife and I stayed a night here as part of our anniversary celebrations. Sue and her dog Inka gave us a very friendly welcome and, after showing us to our room, we took tea and ginger cake (superbly moist) in the lounge, whilst chatting to Sue about the area and the previous occupants of the farmhouse. Our room (one of six) faced east towards the tower of Sissinghurst Castle; a view that many will give a lot for (including us!). The large bed was very comfortable and the room generally well appointed and very nice and quiet. We would have welcomed a larger ensuite bathroom but it was clean, the towels were beautifully soft and for one night it was more than adequate. A nice touch is the modern IPOD docking station on top of the bedside radio. Tea making facilities in the room are good although labelling of individual types of tea bag (a small detail but at this level of B&B pricing, essential in our view) would be helpful. We made a few suggestions along these lines the next morning to Sue and they were very graciously received.
For our evening meal, we walked to the Three Chimneys pub, across the Sissinghurst estate and up to a lane, then along the lane to the pub. For us this was a great summer evening's stroll but it takes about 30 minutes and will not be for everyone. Other good pubs and restaurants are plentiful but you will need a taxi or be prepared to drive. The breakfast next morning was excellent. Plenty of fresh fruit and cereals and a choice of cooked fare for those who want it. We were in pole position for the opening time of the National Trust Sissinghurst Castle Garden, right next door to the farmhouse. Perfect. Thank you Sue - it was a great stay.

Just returned from the most idylic stay at this amazing bed and breakfast, beautiful room, fabulous view, perfect host, and sissinghurst gardens just through the gate. Nothing was to much trouble for Sue from booking tables at local restaurants to advising on places to visit. Lovely breakfast to start the day with local produce, do try the ginger cake with tea on arrival scrummy. A home from home that no one should miss, can't wait to return.

Room Tip: all lovely ask for one over looking the tower for a view to die for

As Americans traveling for our first time in Kent, we could not have chosen a more perfect place for our visit. We stayed at the Farmhouse for eleven nights, which gave us plenty of time to get to know how Sue, Frazer, and the staff meet the needs of their guests -- with charm, grace, and amazing hospitality. Sue recommended that we book the largest room, the Sissinghurst, for our extended stay, and it was perfect. The bedroom was big enough to spread out in, the bath was small but tastefully finished, and the downstairs common rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated with period furnishings, accessories, and fresh flowers. Breakfast every morning was plentiful and freshly prepared. The area is full of good restaurants and pubs, and we particularly enjoyed our dinners at Richard Philips at Chapel Down Winery, the Three Chimneys Pub, and Apicius in Cranbrook. The Farmhouse is a good base location for day trips to all of the historical castles and country manors that the southeast offers, and at the end of the day, it was always good to come back to what felt like our home away from home. We cannot praise Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse enough and hope that we are lucky enough to be able to return someday.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable two night stay at Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse. We couldn't have wished for a better location - spent a lovely day exploring the wonderful Sissinghurst Garden which was just next door! Sue and Fraser (and Inca their lovely Black Labrador!) are very good hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel at home. When we arrived we enjoyed a pot of tea and home made ginger cake on the lawn in the sunshine - just what we needed to start our weekend. Sue had managed to secure a booking for us at Chapel Down Vineyard for dinner that night - which was excellent. There are also other good restaurants and pubs nearby. Our room was very comfortable - really comfy bed and pillows. We enjoyed two lovely breakfasts - we opted for the fresh berries and smoothies each day and a lovely full English to follow - as much as you wanted and all excellent quality. We have vowed that we will return next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Hareplain which had good views of the Castle - this is not one of the larger bedroo...

Once again we were so comfortably ensconced in this wonderful B&B. To be staying right at Sissinghurst Castle gardens, and to be so warmly received by Sue who went out of her way to make us feel at home - we could not have asked for better. There is a gentleness and tranquility about the house and we hope to return to its comforts again in the future. Thank you very much Sue for making our visit a happy one. Au revoir.
