First impressions were great. Good music playing, good wifi, cheap prices. The food came out and things went downhill. The kids ordered nachos and what came out was 8 corn chips with a few sprinkles of grated cheese, 4 tiny cubes of tomato and a smear of unidentified sauce like substance. I got tempura seafood which was dried up 10 day old prawns and squid etc. I would avoid this place.

We stayed 2 days in Senggigi and went 3 times to the Young Cafe. The service was one of the best we ever had in our holidays and the food was excellent, especially the fajitas. We can only recommand the restaurant.

We went to The Young Cafe for breakfast and had a strange experience. The waiter seemed like it was his first day in this restaurant. We ordered the English breakfast with two eggs, sausages, tomatoes, hash browns, toast, cheese and jam. What we got was a very sorry looking plate with one egg, hash browns and cheese missing. The platter of fruit going with it arrived 20 minutes later. The tea was served in an espresso cup and the Lombok coffee undrinkable. When my boyfriend ordered a cappuccino instead, it took half an hour of the waiter wrestling with the machine until a Lombok coffee with milk disguised in a cappuccino mug was served to him. Again, not drinkable. When we brought this to the waiter's attention, we were told this was "their style". After telling him again that it was a disaster he kindly took it of the bill.
The banana-pineapple-chocolate pancake was good.
The last curiosity was the bill with much white-out use.

On the main road in Senggigi, my wife and I had an excellent, although not scenic, lunch at The Young Cafe. My wife had grilled gourami in special Lombok sauce and I had fish (gourami?) steamed in banana leaves. Both dishes were served with rice and vegetables. Although both dishes were quite tasty, the grilled gourami was the superior of the two. My wife liked it so much that for the remainder of our stay in Indonesia, that dish was her standard for judging other Indonesian and Balinese seafood dishes.

Two final thoughts. The waiter seemed to be very proud of the restaurant's Lombok coffee. We did not take advantage of it, but it may be worth a try. Also, it is a bit south of the Arts Market, but well worth the walk!
