I stayed here in June 2013. The room was Ok for the price and the owners were indeed friendly on the surface.

There was however something I never saw in hundrieds of hotels, rooms, guest houses, homestays I stayed during my trips. Bathrooms at Ressa have no sinks and no even small shelves for toiletries. How am I supposed to brush my teeth with only showerhead available? Where I put my toothpase and toothbrush? On the bathroom floor? Owners had no answer. There was also no hot water.

If people are happy to stay in a place like this and give it glowing reviews, I have no objection. I want however to be informed in advance about such unusual living conditions and this was not the case.

We stayed three nights at this cute homestay.
It is a little outside of Senggigi but totally within reach. The way here takes you past the Chandi and the Jayakarta hotel on the right and the 2D Minimart on the left and almost another mile to a little white sign on the left, annonouncing "Ressa Homestay".
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great budget place. We stayed in room #1 with A/C (works so well, we had to turn it a little up at night), good sized clean room, outdoor bathroom overgrown by a mango tree, with hot water shower with great water pressure (hard to find here).
The room got cleaned after two days with new towels and sheets.

You can rent scooters from the owners for 40000IDR a day.

Jack Sparrow will hop to you when you sit outside

The staff is amazingly hospital and always up for a chat.

We will definitely be back!

TIP: call or email direct for cheaper prices!!

We found Ressa homestay on TripAdvisor after some searching. There are a lot of mid/top end hotels in this town but not a lot of good quality, affordable options. It was a little way out of town so you definitely need a motorbike to get around, we rented their own which was incredibly cheap so the location was not a problem for us, just be aware that you will need to eat dinner out. In fact we were happy not to be staying in the main town as it was very touristy compared to other areas of Lombok. This was the perfect location for exploring the west and north of this beautiful island, the coast road north of Sernegigi is particularly spectacular! We payed just a couple of pounds extra for a western toilet and both the room and bathroom were lovely and clean with much appreciated aircon. There was some building work going on in the garden when we were there, which did not interfere with our stay, but when the outdoor area is complete it will make a lovely addition to the garden and an alternative area to relax in. The family were more than helpful and friendly with two adorable children. The kids could make a bit of noise in the morning that could easily wake you if you were a light sleeper, luckily it didn’t disturb us too much. Ressa homestay is a great affordable option for exploring this area of Lombok.

Since I only did a short stop @ Ressa Homestay (arrived in evening and left early the next morning), I cannot give an in depth review. Still, the staff was so kind, reliable, caring and particularly keen on providing local infos to manage my way around Lombok that this was worth underlining this valuable insight about this place. Bulla and his family were charming and reliable people. As for accommodation, I slept in a basic and efficient private room. Nothing to complain about: simple, clean and reasonably priced (130,000 with breakfast included).

Keep on the good work and good attitude y'all @ Ressa, more good business for you to come !

stayed here for 1 night before we went to the Gili islands. The place is a little bit in the middle of nowhere so its abut a 15,ooo IDR taxi to central sengiggi. The rooms are very basic....fan, bed, no sheet/duvet, but are very clean and the rooms have a lovely porch area in the front to eat breakfast at. Shower is cold but fine...our bathroom was basic with no sink and a traditional squat (hole, not western toilet) toilet but it was all very clean. Breakfast was coffee with fruit and an egg toastie. I think it is a little pricey for the location and very basic facilities but the owners are wonderful and if you dont mind basic then its lovely.

We are a group of 4 guys just finding a budget place as our pit stop before and after we climb Mt Rinjani, and certainly we found the right place!

Location
We took a cab from the ferry terminal [we took a ferry over from Bali mainland] and it took bout 20mins. Great scenery along the way so it was fine. It was a little hard to find cause they only had a small sign at the main road, but it was alright! Lots of eateries and provision shops within a 5mins walk so no worries about getting hungry!

Service
Exceptional service by Bulla and Kaori! [The homestay belongs to them and their 2 adorable kids] Check in without a hassle. Something that I would like to point out is once we got there, one of us wanted to get fishing hooks and Bulla immediately said I'll bring you out in my scooter to get it! He drove around the small little town just to help us get our hooks. Next thing is, for 2 mornings, we left at around 4 plus 5 in the morning and to our surprise, the lovely couple prepared sandwiches and cut fruits for us to bring along! Simple gestures like that made our day!

Rooms
We got what we need, just a bed for us to sleep and a clean toilet. Maybe they could provide a thicker blanket during the colder period around May to August. Some people might not get used to it but there's no flush and you'll have to pour the water into the toilet bowl to flush it. There were some mosquitos but mosquitos coils will do the job. Still not an issue for 4 guys!

Value
With that outstanding service and hospitality from Bulla and Kaori at that price, it is definitely worth it! Would not think twice about staying there when we return in the future!
