“Great vibe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

I was recommended the bungalows by a friend and they have lived up to our expectations!
Adrian who owns them has created a tranquil paradise with a relaxed vibe which makes you not want to step outside!
They are really central, and don't be put off by the alley you take to get there, we arrived at night and were a bit worried at first but it is completely safe and the locals are super friendly!
The bathrooms are private but open air and the rooms have a really homely feel.
Adrian arranged our transfer to Gili Air and made some great recommendations of places to eat, dive and visit.

Firstly, all the staff here and Raja are very welcoming and very helpful and friendly during our stay. The rooms just have fans (can get pretty hot inside) and the bathrooms are outside....ok if the weather is great but the novelty wears off when you have to shower in the rain!! There are a lot of bugs etc in the room which can get annoying. Location isn't too bad but the local mosque can get noisy. Lounge area is very nice and breakfast was fine. Overall a good stay, but there are cheaper places for the same value.

The friendly owners take care of every single detail during your stay.

The bungalows are near the mainstreet so the location is perfect. Around 10 minutes from the beach (easy-walk) but at the same time they provide the quiet and the peace that you may beed. When you get there you find a Green spot with nice bungalows (eqquiped with nets) and with open-air well decorated toilets.

Furthermore the food is awesome (i'm living in Indonesia and not every banana pancake is good, nor every jaffle...). They have a wooden structure in where they serve the breakfast and sometimes they organize dinners and meetings.

Last time we went we payed for joining a local dinner that was just delicious. We played the guitar and we were singing and joking.

The owners themselves have a great life experiences and good level of English.

Budget accomodation :)

Great rooms, brilliant value, and the best bathrooms I have seen on my trip so far! Raja is very welcoming and helpful - speaking lots of languages! Felt very safe and cosy here, a beautiful haven in the quiet and secluded areas. Recommended for solo female travels.

I have stayed at Raja's several times over the last 12 years and I keep coming back. For the price bracket it really is excellent value.
The bungalows are clean and nicely decorated and set in a lovely leafy garden. The included breakfast is substantial and you get fresh juice, tea or Lombok coffee and a choice between toast, eggs or pancake.
The staff all speak good English and Adrian, the owner, also speaks German. They are very friendly and helpful - They helped me to book a boat trip to Komodo and I've also rented motorbikes from them in the past.
In this price range you can't expect hot water or ac. I have stayed in other places of similar price in Senggigi and around Indonesia but Raja's is the most pleasant and has a great ambience.
Bring ear plugs for the mosque and local bars. This is a problem for many hotels in this area and it's a pity. I first stayed at Raja's many years ago before the new big mosque was built and before the worst offenders of the bars opened. The mosque is part of the local culture and part of the charm but it's a shame nothing can be done about the noise of the bars.
Also, Raja's is up a dark alley so a torch is good if coming back late at night.
Really enjoyed this stay and hope to be back again in future.

I loved this place. The rooms were big and spacious with comfortable beds. And the setting, in lovely quiet gardens with tall coconut trees and away from the main street, was so nice - so much so I stayed there for three nights, in between climbing Mount Rinjani! It is possible to find places a bit cheaper, and I looked elsewhere, but the setting and rooms were so nice I preferred to spend what was only a little bit extra.

The staff are very friendly and speak good English, and I'd recommend trying the food; the breakfast I had was tastier and less expensive than what I had on the main street.

The only downsides were cold showers (but I had this almost everywhere in Indonesia) and no WiFi. They told me though they're waiting for it to be connected so perhaps it won't be long, besides there are plenty of restaurants in the town with free WiFi so it's not a problem.

Room Tip: If you can't find the place, it's down the main street under a kind of archway a little bit...

This little hotel owned and managed by a local family is a real find.If you are looking for a Sheraton experience go to the Sheraton. But if you are. Looking for something more authentic and less plastic then Rajas is for you.The owner,Adrien looks after guests personally and speaks excellent English .It is right in the heart of Senggigi and is inexpensive.Highly recommended for travelers
