We stayed here for a couple of nights so we could snorkel on the lovely beach. Our bungalow was very basic but clean and comfortable. We loved the balcony with ocean view and the pool and grounds were pleasing. The restaurant has a limited menu and is just "okay." But taxis are safe and cheap so it is no problem getting into town and other restaurant choices. I do wish they would improve the breakfast thought. But we stayed there primarily for the beach which is divine and they rent snorkeling equipment.

Room Tip: The two floor bungalows with the sea view are best.

We are a couple in our early sixties. We love travelling and have travelled quite a bit in Asia. We arrived in Lombok on the Gillie cat (fast boat) with nothing planned. By a twist of fate we ended up getting a lift into town with a shuttle car from an expensive resort which had met the boat to pick up a young honeymoon couple. After the honeymooners were droped off we asked the driver if he could recommend somewhere good and Cheap. Know just the place he said. Thats how we ended up at Windy and we are so glad that we did. What a great little place. What it lacked in stars it made up for with its very helpful and friendly staff. Hal and Dido went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted. The Bluebird taxi (the only ones to get, they're metered) was $Aus1.40 into Sengiggi. We were there in November, officially the low season, and we almost had the place to ourselves. Our little bungalow was clean and tidy and entirely adequate for the price. Breakfast was good and consisted of either pancakes or eggs on toast with fruit juice, plate of fresh fruit and as much tea or coffee as you wanted. We ate dinner there a couple of times. It was no better or worse than meals we had in town including a trip to the highly recommended Italian restaurant at the other end of town where we had possibly the worst pizza Ive ever eaten. Not bad for a specialist Italian restaurant. We would certainly stay at Windy again. Its away from the hustle and bustle of town. It has lovely gardens and pool, is right on the beach and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We had the thatched roof bungalow (not the double story rooms) closest to the beach, No. 15. I

First of all, avoid Senggigi if you can and if you have to stay in Senggigi, do not bother for more than a night or two (it is a transit & depressing area, just used to go to the Gilis). Windy beach is a budget clean and comfy hotel right in front of the beach. Each bungalow has a little terrace and the superior one has tea making facilities. The bathroom is smelly and the hot water sometimes disappear...
The staff are quite nice, the restaurant serves OK food but the breakfast is very poor. The hotel is located 10-15 minutes by car to the center so you need transportation.
Overall, probably the only budget beach hotel in Senggigi and an OK stay.

Room Tip: Superior room is the same as an ordinary one but with tea making facilities.

Wind Beach is a nice place to stay at - we stayed at one of their "Special Cottages", with an upstairs bedroom and plenty of space to accomodate the 3 of us. The pool area was lovely, breakfast wasn't special except for the pancakes, the best we had all vacation!

The big drawback was the personnel, in particular a guy called Hassan. We arranged a boat tour to the Gili islands with him and had to pay him upfront (so not directly to the captain, we paid 700,000 for 3 people). This already made me suspicious, especially when our captain Eddy (great guy, we had an amazing day) was very happy with our tip which was a fraction of what we paid for the entire day. The next day we were moving to the south of Lombok and Hassan could arrange transportation for us. This would include a few stops at some temples and local markets etc. The price for 2 people, from Mangsit to Kuta would be 600,000. Finding this rather steep we asked a taxi driver that we befriended how much it would cost if he would take us (including the stops) and he brought us there (on the meter!) for less than 250,000. This is less than half of what Hassan quoted us. So please pay attention when booking anything through the reception at Windy Beach, ask around for a much lower price!

Windy beach is situated on a very nice beach, with white sand and palm trees. There are indeed some touts, but not many and they are friendly. We had one of the bigger rooms, with an upstairs bedroom. The room was spacious enough and the balcony overlooking the see was great. Since we had a fridge in the room, we bought some bottles of beer in the hotel and drunk them conveniently on our own balcony. The room was good, had everything you needed but of course you cannot compare it with some other upmarket resorts a bit further down the beach. But Windy had definitely charm. When we were there, there were not many other guests. One night, we were the only ones. Breakfast was ok, not wow. The first morning, there was a kind of buffet since there were some guests. This was not really nice. But the other days, breakfast was served from the menu and this was good. One day, we had lunch there. Lunch was ok. Prices for food and drinks were rather low.
The pool area was super, we had always chairs and towels.
For diner, we went 2 evenings over the beach to the restaurants from nearby resorts (both superb food) and 1 evening we went into Sengiggi by taxi. The hotel arranged for the cab. They also arranged for a driver & car to have an excursion in the north of Lombok. This was very good. The tickets they arranged for the boat to Gili T were not really what we wished. We had tickets for the public (small) boat instead of a fast boot. This took some time and hassle, but of course it's not too bad. But on the other hand, when we arrived from Bali, they arranged a pick-up for us after we called them we had some troubles to get to the hotel. So overall, we liked our stay in Windy Beach. If you are looking for a nice resort, with lots of space and peace, this is the place you are looking for.

Room Tip: There are 2 larger bungalows with the bedroom on the 1st floor. they have sea views.

We recieved loads of information to all our queries prior o our arrival. The staff were friendly and helpful all the time. the staff are content and happy and it shows in the way they treat the visitors. we were a family of 4 and were given a cottage for a very good rate. Upstairs had a double bed and downstairs were 2 single beds for the children. (They were the only hotel that offered this option. Other hotels could only accommodate us using 2 rooms). Although the hotel was fully booked for some of the time we were there, you don't notice it, because of the big grounds. Food was delicous and reasonably priced. When we needed a recommendation of a local place to eat or a taxi, the staff were happy to help. They also stored out luggage while we did the 3 day trek and had it all ready in our cottage on our return.
