I stay at Keramos Studios (who are the correct name for this place) for 4 nights just before Easter 2009. It was very lowly. When I travel back to this part of Crete I will stay here again!
I was so lucky that I find their webpage and several user-rapports before I travel and my main reason to choose this place was the lovely word about their breakfast or more correctly Katarina’s breakfast. I wasn’t disappointed, it was even better then the report and the photos. At their webpage they write “best breakfast in Crete”. I have not taste every breakfast at Crete, but it is the best breakfast I have taste in whole Greece and I have travel to Greece for more than 25 years. If you stay there anytime, you have to taste the really nice herbal the whit local honey, it is really nice.

I travel alone and have ordered at singe room, it was very small, but the price were good and it was very clean and I sleep very well there.

This family also had a very nice tavern close to Keramos studios, driven by lowly Viki. I have get a nice price for accommodation, breakfast and dinner for these 4 days and when I arrived at tavern Vegera, Viki placed me whit the same table that other guest so I have company and there were no menu, she just come whit several dishes of the food they have coked this day. The food was very nice and there were a lot of it, so booth the breakfast and the food at the tavern you need a lot of time to eat it all, for you want to eat it all, because it taste so good.

We have just got back from a fabulous trip to the Keramos apartments in the village of Zaros. We wanted a holiday away from the usual tourist crowds to do some walking, eating, drinking and exploring.

The accommodation is fitted out in traditional cretan decor with comfortable beds (two UK style queens in a twin room). The rooms was spacious and clean and nothing was too much trouble for owner Katerina and her family and staff. The room also contained a small hob, full size fridge and sink which we didn't use. The shower was of reasonable pressure and there was plenty of hot water.

We were welcomed by Katerina every morning (kalimera!) and given an unbelievable breakfast - mountain herb tea, good coffee, a selection of freshly home made small plates of various sweet and savoury pastries (filled and otherwise), greek yoghurt, local thyme scented honey, pancakes... At least eight of these plates that we couldn't finish but were given a bag "for picnic later". Fabulous.

Zaros is a traditional greek mountain village in the centre of Crete and the taverna Veggera there is run by Katerina's sister Irini and niece Vivi. The food was organic, freshly made with local produce and from recipes handed down through generations. We drank copious amounts of the local village wine and stuffed ourselves on the delicious food. An added bonus was that it was extremely good value for money.

We had a great time and I would recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting the area.
