My partner & I have stayed here many times and it only gets better - we always notice improvements being made. Very very clean & quiet. Wonderful food & drinks/cocktails. The garden is beautiful as is the pool/deck area. Staff are great, very helpful! We don't mind paying a bit extra, it's worth it!!

We flew into Karratha from Brisbane (I'm told this is the longest flight in Australia) and drove the 40 minutes to the Point Samson Resort, and I have to admit we were very pleasantly surprised by what we found. To tell the truth, we were not expecting a lot, as we have had previous experiences in similar "towns of isolation" where you normally get and have to accept whatever is on offer. I was last in Point Samson some 30 years ago when it was a tiny sleepy fishing village and was impressed by its careful development.

The resort (hard to accept it as a "resort" as there are only 15 units (and a couple of those are kept for the fly-in/fly-out staff - more on that later), is not on the ocean, and has a restaurant but no bar, unless you count the outside decked area as the bar?

The surprise? The accommodation, the dining experiences (yep - actually found it so good we ate there every night!), the wonderful staff and even the gardens were way beyond expectations.

The owner (Helen) was an excellent host, maintains a very high standard throughout the resort and is obviously committed to excellence. She has mastered the difficulties of operating in a remote environment by overcoming the usual excuse of poor service by the "limited employee pool in these remote areas" by employing (excellent) fly-in/fly-out wait staff and chefs - but with a twist. She rotates them fortnightly so each of them are sharp, efficient, happy and provide top quality service levels.

The Point Samson prawns are the most succulent I have ever tasted, simply superb! They are bought daily from the fresh catch boats just a walk away from the resort, and really are delicious. All meals and service were of an outstanding quality.

Add to this the whale watching opportunities at certain times of the year (we were not that fortunate even though it was the season), Honeymoon Cove for swimming or just lazing and the ocean walks = a great stay.

We found the rooms very serviceable, quite roomy with excellent recently refurbished bathrooms, good bed, free movie channel, very pleasant private outside sitting areas to each unit and very clean!

I thoroughly recommend this facility, and commend Helen for maintaining such a high level of quality in an area with little or no competition!

We stayed at resort for my birthday. The room was super clean and they had a coffee machine and microwave and all sorts of tea.
They provided free foxtel so we didn't have to pay for the movie which was great.
But overall, I have to say they were overpriced for we paid $400 a night and it was not a suite room or nothing fancy about the location.

Happy Birthday! I'm glad you spent it with us at the resort. The free movies are a great deal I think as you can watch as many movies as you like for free! Also the free WIFI is a great bonus. I look forward to your next visit:)

My partner and recently spent a weekend at the Point Samson Resort. I was surprised at how small it is therefore I feel that calling it a resort is a misnomer. However, the rooms are like small open plan units. We were given a unit at the front of the resort on the path that leads to the restaurant and reception. This meant that diners going to and from the restaurant could be quite noisy, and they were. Having said this the noise was settled by 11pm on both nights that we stayed. f you decide to stay here maybe ask for a room away from the entrance. The rooms are simply but nicely furnished. A large flat screen TV sits on the wall and they threw in free movies. They provide a small DeLonghi machine but only 2 pods of coffee per day so if you want more you will need to pay. The usual teas, fridge, cutlery are provided. The bed was very comfortable, soft but firm if that makes sense.
I found the staff friendly without being intrusive.
The resort is not on the beach but it is only a 5-10 minute walk. The pool is quite small but we did not use it. There is a restaurant 'Tata's' and a small outdoor eating area called 'The Deck'. We ate at Tata's and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We shared an entrée of a seafood tasting plate and it was divine. Our mains were a small piece of Red Emperor on a type of home made, largish, potatoe hash brown. Nicely don and just enough after the large entrée. The Deck has a smaller and more casual menu than the restaurant.
At $330 a night, like anything in the Pilbara it is over priced for what it is, but it is one of the nicer places around so I would stay here again.

I have been fly in fly out for 10 years and Tatas is by far the best meal I have had in the Pilbara and rates alongside the best restaurants in Australian major cities. We were waiting for cyclone Rusty to pass and spent a lovely evening at Tatas. The staff were extremely polite, knowledgable and friendly and the meal faultless. Well done I will return. Pt Samson is a hidden gem! well worth the drive off the highway.

Your appreciation is most welcomed. When a team constantly strives to make visitors feel welcomed and hold high standards a show of appreciation is the most important reward, no money can take the place of a genuine thank you.

Having a one night stop over whilst working was nothing but torture - once I got to this resort all I wanted to do was STAY THERE. The room was superb - so comfortable, clean and modern. Staff were fantastic. Just walk to the beach and enjoy the beauty of Point Samson. Tata's Restaurant was top quality with a lovely relaxing ambiance. They even accommodate breakfast for those who have to leave at some ungodly hour in the morning before the sun is up by providing you with everything you need the night before.

We stayed 2 nights in this 'Oasis in the Pilbara' with it's tropical, tranquil atmosphere and wish we could only have stayed longer but unfortunately our schedule didn't permit. Our studio room was roomy with a huge, comfortable bed and modern decor throughout. We ate at Tata's Restaurant whilst we stayed there and were extremely happy with our meals both evenings.( I recommend the Vietnamese Beef Salad ) The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and Helen did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and memorable. We appreciated the quality and attention to detail, from the romantic setting in the restaurant, to the citrus scented soap and body lotion in our bathroom. to the lush grounds surrounding the entire resort to the flavour and attractive presentation of our meals. I highly reccommend a stay at this uniquely, private resort.
