“LOVELY LASAGNE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2012

We went here for a meal at 8pm on a Saturday night. Can't comment on the main courses as we had brucetta followed by lasagne and garlic bread. The lasagne was huge and it and the cheesy garlic bread were very tasty. The house red was also good.
The service was fine, but the place was fairly quiet and lacked a little atmoshere.
Prices average or slightly below and portion sizes quite generous.

“decent Italian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012

Our local Italian restaurant, where we go on occasion. Quite reasonable for the area & usually no complaints as we know what we are getting. The grilled assorted fish is normally a good choice, but they need to take care with consistency as last time the squid was a little over cooked. On the whole they do a good job, with attention to the decor it is good choice if you are in the area.

“Terrible experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

We went expecting an Italian restaurant, how wrong were we. I ordered venison with a blueberry sauce. The meat was overcooked and the sauce was very like a warm blueberry yoghurt. The other meals were either very oily or very dry. A real shame.

“Could be so much better with attention to seasoning and ability to present a dressed salad.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2012

The service was good from the outset, although the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived (7.00). Our starters, once ordered arrived very quickly. Mussels, smoked salmon on bruschetta, bresaola and bruschetta with tomatoes and basil. Sadly there was no basil for some reason, but it was generally alright, and although the salmon and breseola dishes were ok (although the accompanying salads was dry and undressedl) the mussels tasted odd a bit odd, almost bitter. I enquired if they were fresh, and was told they were, but I remained unconvinced. The mains arrived; spag Bol, two variations of oven cooked sea bass and the lobster dish. The spag Bol was nice, though the option of having parmesan would have been appreciated, but sadly there were some flaws with the other dishes. One of the sea bass dishes had quite a few scales remaining, and sadly the seabass lacked any flavour, which was odd as it was cooked on the bone. The lobster was a real dissapointment, flavourless and rubbery. We did raise our issues with the waitress, and to her and the restaurants credit we were offered free coffees and deserts - which we ultimately declined. Overall it could have been a nice meal if more care had been given to the accompaniments (Dry salad, unseasoned vegetables?) and improvement to the overall quality of the raw ingredients. As Gordon Ramsay would say - reduce the size if the menu, but make everything brilliantly! The service and recompense for our complaint was excellent, and cannot be faulted - however attention to detail and final tasting by the chef would have resulted in us not complaining in the first place.

“Great atmosphere and great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

I visited la Rosa on a Friday evening with a friend. There was a wedding reception, works do and a birthday party in, over 45 people in all but food was excellent, the atmosphere great and staff attentive. We will visit again. Soon.
