The hotel and room furnishing was to a very high standard. The family room which had 4 single beds as spacious, very clean, had a beautiful marble bathroom and air conditioning. The breakfast was quite basic, but the a la carte menu was very good and quite reasonable.
The hotel is situated at the top of the quiet village of Dilar, with beautiful views from the dining room of the mountains of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
The hotel has a lovely lounge area and well stocked bar. The service was reasonable although very little english was spoken by the staff.

It was getting late in the afternoon and after some very stressful driving through the centre of Granada, looking for a hotel, we decided to head out of town. We had had enough of the constant abuse and foul language.. and that was inside the car! Small towns had worked well for us on our travels to date, and with the sun setting we were getting a little desperate.
In very broken English, coupled with my disastrous Spanish, we managed to get directions to the small village of Dilar where someone ‘thought’ there may be a hotel?? Dilar is only about 10 minutes south of the city centre, but well and truly clear of the hustle and bustle.
While still a little nervous about what we’d find, we wound our ways through the tiny streets following the yellow hotel signs. Note that these don’t hit you in the face unless you are looking for them. Luckily we were advised to look for said signs by a ten year old local boy that knew about 20 words in English.. hotel, yellow and sign being three of his repertoire.
On arriving we prepared ourselves for a hefty price tag, given that the place looked like a ski resort, coupled with the amazing the views of Granada and the snow covered Sierra Nevadas, which towered over this hamlet.
We were pleasantly surprised with the price – noting that we would have paid anything at this time of day for a beer, a feed and warm bed. The place was beautiful. Lovely decor, large rooms with comfy beds, a bar with a wide selection and as we would soon discover, some of the best and cheapest restaurant food we had on our travels. The staff, despite their very limited English, were extremely helpful and professional. We had been kissed on the backside by a fairy!
Breakfast did not include a huge range of dishes, however I don’t think you can beat an orange juice, coffee and a toasted cheese and thin sliced ham baguette (yeah, I know that’s French). I loved the breakfast and it was included in the room price!
It took just 15 minutes to get from the hotel to the Alhambra car park. We parked their all day, including the afternoon period where we strolled through the city, and it only cost us about 12 Euro.
While I may caution prospective guests on possible seasonal prices, I really can’t recommend this hotel enough. It may not offer the buzz and excitement of staying in the middle of town, but neither does it come with the challenge of locating hotels in the city centre nor the associated parking headaches. We hooked up with a bunch of other travellers on the balcony after dinner and had a ball.

Stay here!

Couple of other tips:

You may find a sign prior to the village directing you to this hotel via a lonely looking track running around the south of the town. We opted for driving through town and had no problems. It was kind of nice and there is one small house that has gone all out to decorate their front yard with all manner of concrete statues. Worth a look.

If you do try to navigate through the city of Granada, use maps with a degree of scepticism. I’m not the only traveller who has made this observation.

Reserve your Alhambra tickets at least the day propr (depending on the season) using the internet booking service and get there early. This will ensure you don’t get caught in the long lines that had even started to build at 8:00am. Get in and see this amazing place first up and spend the rest of the day exploring the city itself.
