Take a transfert and reach this mountain resort in two hours from Tbilisi. Located on a large terrasse overviewing the incredible range of Caucasus, Gudauri Hotel Marco Polo offers all what you need to take advantage of this amazing ski area. Completely restorated, modern, design and comfortable, but without luxous, this hotel has restaurant, bars, lounge, games and screen rooms, swimming pool (massage available) and jaccuzi. The skishop (ski and snowboard equipments must be absolutely up to dated !) and skirooms are situated behind the hotel near the fist chairlift. And then...you enter in a great ski circus, with 2 summits (lifts to 3300m) offering freeride fields and slopes paradise to all type of skier. From the beginners (blue) to the experienced freeriders, you will most certainly taste the Caucasus snow and its incredible panorama. And near the parking, an helicopter (austrian pilots with guides) is waiting, to drop you in the middle of s'nowhere... Could resist to this temptation ?

If you get up this high to the mountain town of Gudauri, (you are probably going to Gregeti Trinity Church) this IS the place to stay. It is a large ski resort hotel with the lift right out our window on the back. Good views up to mountains.

Modern all around but not luxurious. The food was not great but best available.

We shared this big place with no more than 20 people, and were there for two nights. Breakfast was adequate in the Georgian style.

I was in this hotel for two days, stuff was very helpful, rooms comfortable but wifi didn't work in the room (only in lobby). Food was terrible (soup alert - it gave me food poisoning). Generally overpriced and its only advantage is location.

Room Tip: WiFi doesn't work in all rooms

i think this hotel is the best option in Gudauri cous it s close to ski lifts and there is pool sauna and disco. So if the weather gets bad there s things you can do in this hotel.
all the service was quite good except the food could be better.
there is not much difference in prices for sleeping in Gudauri so i think this is the best value hotel in the resort right now

Room Tip: Stay away from the disco friday and saturday night

This is the original hotel in the growing Gudauri Ski Resort and has been refurbished in the last year or so. As such, it is the only hotel where you can ski in and ski out. It is located at the bottom of the first piste.

We booked online after a hopeless attempt to do so by telephone (the operator was not forthcoming with prices or room options and wanted to take my credit card details before doing anything - she also insisted that online booking was not possible).

There is ample parking outside the hotel, as long as you arrive early morning or late evening once the day skiing traffic from Tbilisi has departed.

We booked a junior suite, which was very nice and felt recently refurbished. The room was on two levels, with a large double bed on the upper level platform and a TV, sofa, wardrobe and bathroom on the lower level. We also had a private balcony facing West to the Aragvi Valley. The room was exceptionally quiet at night, and we slept very well.

The bathroom (shower but no bath) was very good, with very hot water and good water pressure. Shower gel was provided.

There is a ski depot on the first floor. We stored our skis there and skied 30 seconds down to the start of the first lift where there is a hut selling passes.

Dinner was included in the room price and runs from 5.30-7.30. We showered and went down to the dining room and were told to take a seat anywhere. We sat down at a table set with cutlery and wine glasses. A waiter rushed over and explained that we could only sit there if we ordered from the menu. We asked if the menu food was included in the room price; he said yes. There then ensued a farcical fifteen minutes during which we discovered that the food on the menu was not inclusive and that only the buffet in the centre of the room was inclusive. We were told by a third member of staff that if we were eating from the inclusive buffet we had to sit at a bench at the side of the dining room; the tables set nicely with cutlery and glasses were reserved for people who ordered from the menu. The whole dinner experience made us feel quite negative towards the place. The buffet food was ok, but the potato, pasta etc had gone cold by 6.30. It's not clear to me why they insist on serving it at such a restrictively early hour and create such a dour canteen atmosphere.

The following night, we ate in the bar instead. The menu was fairly limited but the food was better, was hot and the staff were nice. The atmosphere was also much more fun and upbeat.

We didn't eat breakfast so can't comment on that.

All in all, this place is comfortable and convenient but needs to improve its service standards vastly if it is to justify the high price tag.

I arranged a trip with 14 people skiing Gudauri and everything regarding booking and transfers pickup and room setting with different bed types worked fine. The hotel offers ski in and ski out :) The rooms where nice and newly renovated and cleaned every day. The spa/pool area where nice with sauna and Jacuzzi a minus for the bath guard guarding the Jacuzzi who was to put it mildly aggressive in his way of making sure that there only where 4 people or sometimes 3 people in the Jacuzzi just did not get the system? The dinner buffe was ok not more that that the reason for this was not the lack of choices more the reason that the food offered where basically the same each night. The breakfast buffe was the same a lot of choices but not that much variation also. I wonder why the hotel does not do more traditional Georgian food that is fabulous but instead of some western inspired/russian mix food with really boring with dry bread.

All and all i would recommend the hotel, just as long as you know that the guards at the hotels are not so friendly and you set your mind to this and don't get shocked by the eastern european "hospitality"
