“Great Diving experience!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

If you are looking for a place to dive with experienced knowledgable dive masters the Deep Outdoors is a great place. Mike was the dive master recommended by my collegue, unfortunately he was sick but we were able to have two wonderful guys take my friends and I out. Jason was very attentive and helped with our refresher course and was very supportive and Rollei was also great pointing out a large turtle at Sombrero a bonus to the dive.

The price is excellent value in my opinion and the facilities are not bad. The only problem i had was when showering the water pressure was very low. but the facilities were clean and pretty well maintained. The equipment used on the dive was also well maintained. The food didn't look appealing so i skipped on this and went out to find food.

If you are looking for a fun hassle free time - Mike and his team are the place to go.

My husband and I spent a week of our honeymoon driving around Southern Luzon, and this was very very disappointing.

The resort is very very basic, basic bedrooms, bathrooms like a hostel, air con didn't work and there was an inch gap around the air con where it had been fitted. Also an inch gap under the balcony door.

Builders painting mouldy stairwell to cover it up when we arrived and men doing work by the pool. Hardly any sun beds and when you go down to the front of the resort there are uncomfortable chairs and no more sun loungers. No beach area - this really is just a pure diving resort.

We arrived at 3pm after a 5 hour drive, and they weren't serving food, good job we had a car or we would have starved.

It was so bad, I cried when we arrived, we didn't end up staying even one night. The reception guys were nice enough, poor english though so they didn't understand a simple request like where we could get lunch. There is wifi but it is really poor and doesn't work well.

We stayed at Eagle Point resort which is a bit like butlins, but for those who have money Vivere Azure is a 4.5* and well worth the money.

This is more like a travellers hotel, the photographer has done an excellent job as it is not the reality at all.

Room Tip: No idea. the one the professional has taken are nothing like our experience. The one photo of the r...

This was my second trip to the resort. I live in Manila and it takes only about 2 hrs to reach the resort on an early Saturday morning. The Dive Shop is located on premises and has brand new equipment. Mike and Erik the dive masters are exceptional and friendly. Food is great and rooms are clean. The pool is also very nice. Def will return to this resort.

This is not a luxury resort - but it is a decent place for a few days diving. The rooms are large with basic furniture, balconies and bathrooms with decent showers. The pool is small but fine and has nice views. There is no spa, but they can arrange massage in your room. The dive centre is well organised and helpful. The restaurant is all buffet style, and the food is homecooked, but it is good and there is lots of it - they will not let you go hungry. They have beer, a small selection of wines (by the bottle), and a bar with a few liquers and spirits. The staff are helpful and keen to please, but it is family run so they are not 'professionals'. We enjoyed our 4 days, and would go back - but I can see why it would not meet some people's expectations, especially if they were non-divers.

To the good:
+ nice grounds
+ buildings are well designed and attractive
+ nice pool
+ food is well cooked and portions are large
+ staff are friendly and helpful
+ large rooms
+ rental gear in the dive shop is of a good standard.

In the middle:
0 the beach is stony, but snorkeling of of it is okay

To the bad:
- the staff are poorly trained. The staff are friendly, but not proactive and not aware of what they should be doing, e.g. we had to ask for the room to be cleaned and the bed made!
- insufficient storage in the room, just a hanging rail, with 3 hangers, no wardrobe
- over priced, the rooms are worth no more than 50 USD in their current state
- no fridge in the room
- no menu! and no snacks outside meal time!
- no price list at all!

The all in all: this is potentially a great little resort a couple of hours drive from Manila especially if you come for the diving. Unfortunately it's poorly run and over-priced. If it did improve I'd go back as the place has a nice ambiance. That said I can get a lot more for my pesos elsewhere.

went to this resort for an overnight weekend of diving with friends this november 2012. from arrival until the check out, everything about the resort was disappointing and very frustrating. We reached there saturday morning from manila and not one of the staff bothered to help with the bags and dive gear. had to be the one to tell the guard to have the boys assist us. the room given to me didn't have toiletries like soap nor shampoo, no toilet paper and towels. it was obviously an unchecked room. when i told the front desk person about it, he didn't even make an effort to make things right or what. the worst is he entered my room to fix the toilet that had no water to flush and saw i had nothing but still didn't do anything. i had one hangar in the closet. The door knob of the room was also sooo old that inserting the key was an effort. on sunday, while showering for home, the water pressure slowly disappeared til finally it stopped. i tried using the bottom of the shower and that too eventually ran dry. i complained with front desk and all a girl said was that the showers were being repaired. they boast of luxury accommodations and a 24 hour front desk. a lie. i went to the desk at 1030 to ask for plastic bag and NO ONE was even there to attend to guests. i asked the local staff if they had a gm and was not surprised to hear from them "no gm sir". by far the worst resort in anilao i've stayed in! if the food was not as good as it was, i would have left not paying the bill, as they charge the rates like a city hotel and i think to myself, why?

This resort was actually more than what I expected. Brought 6 of my family and 2 drivers there, and the staff was more than very accomodating with what I wanted. The lobby has a great view of both the pool, and the ocean. The room we stayed in was very clean and very spacious. We stayed in the bunk bedroom so that I didn't have to book 2 rooms and be away from my family. The bunk bedroom was so spacious, and the bathroom was enormous that you can fit 10 people in there. You could've also fit 20 people in the bedroom and party all night long. There were 3 bunkbeds, and were very comfortable that I even slept on the top bunk.

Diving...we had an amazing divemaster, Erik Montes. On the first day prior to first afternoon dive, he asked me and my husband if we were only diving that day. I told him, that if the dive is great, then we will add more dives. Five minutes into the first dive, I had decided right away we were going to add more dives. We added 3 more dives the next day. Anilao must be Philippines diving's best kept secret. You can't really appreciate what's underwater if you go there and don't dive. Diving those reefs for 2 days were not enough. There was so much to see, I don't even know where to start to explain the beauty of those reefs. I guess you, guys, would just have to go and see for yourself.

Overall, We had a great time! Definitely will go back to Bambu Villa....definitely dive Anilao with Erik Montes again!
