Had a lovely stay in this cottage. It is ideally situated in the middle of the beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale, two minutes walk away from the two pubs and many cafes. The welcome hamper supplied was a lovely touch. The information in the cottage was clear and concise with lots of ideas for entertainment in the area. There was a supply of books and games if needed. The rooms were very comfortable with constant hot water and lovely and warm and cosy. We went out and about every day when we were there walking for miles around the area and we're glad of the cottage comforts when we got back.
James the owner was instantly contactable without being intrusive.
A lovely break. We would love to visit again

“Place well presented .”
Reviewed November 13, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Place well presented and comfortable. Only criticism is that the main bedroom had a constant strong fusty smell. Which made us feel ill. The smell seemed to be around the wardrobe area and was very off putting. Unsure if the smell was from the actual wardrobe itself.
We noticed the description of the property said bedding was Egyptian Cotton, but the bedding was definately not.

Thanks for a positive 4 bubble score, albeit our equal lowest so far. The bedding except the lower pillow cases of each pair is most definitely the relative luxury of Egyptian cotton and is easily distinguished from the less silky lower pillow cases on the bed, or that are found in some other lets or most homes. It may not be the really high thread count, but it is significantly more expensive than standard bedding. The last lot was from the premium range of a well known supermarket bought in store so I can't think that it would be falsely sold. It is quite upsetting to be wrongly accused but I can only assume you are used to very high quality bedding and have made a genuine mistake. We don't have any white polyester sheets or duvet covers.

I am not given your exact name or stay dates in October to respond personally but we would have been very keen to hear about any smell or problems to investigate them. The smell has not been mentioned before or since in many 5 star reviews, and could not be smelt earlier today mid November, when we were readying the cottage for a re-booking from the week before. We checked and could not notice a smell other than that of hardboard but we are now keeping it monitored.

It is a shame we can not verify and have had to knowingly rebut some of the review but thank you for your opinion and let us know if we can do anything more to resolve or correct the information as we always would given the chance.

A lovely cosy cottage down an unnamed Lane. Ample parking. Well equipped and comfortable. The village was just a short walk away with pub, tea rooms, local stores etc. Very convenient to travel to Pickering. A welcome pack included eggs, butter, crumpets, tea, milk, chocolate and a bottle of wine.
Highly recommended.

We have stayed in many cottages over the years and we think that this to be one of the best we have stayed in.

We stayed for one week and cannot fault the accommodation

Its been build and fitted to a very high standard in a a very quiet position in a lovely village.

We found it to be spotless clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The welcome basket was a lovely touch

Thornton Le Dale which is very pretty and for a small village it got a lot to offer .The center of the village is a 5 minute walk from the cottage.

We ate the New Inn and the Brandy Snap Bistro, which was amazing .I would recommend to book tables well in advance of your stay .Both places are very popular.

We had a tasty Pizza from the village piazza place .Had afternoon tea at the Lavender tea rooms .

We also got a supply of some lovely food from the Cedar Barn Farm Shop just outside the village

The location of the village is ideal for day trips around the area.We spend days visiting both the moors and the coast .Dalby forest is near by and offers many great walks for all abilities.
We went to the Whitby and Robin Hood bay .Traveled on the North York Moors railway from Pickering to Whitby .Also spend a day at Castle Howard .We only had one rainy day and enjoyed a visit to Eden Camp that day

We highly recommend this accommodation to others and hope to returns ourselves next year.

“Family Bank holiday weekend break”

We found the accommodation to be extremely clean and comfortable with a really nice secluded garden with garden furniture. It is ideally placed for Dalby forest which we visited for the first time and found it great if you like walking and/or biking and less than 30 minutes to Scarborough and Whitby. The village itself is quaint with a couple of family friendly pubs which do food and it also has a fish shop. All in all great break and we will definitely be back! Thanks
