“A lovely peacefull hotel on Lake Peten”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

Good service.Friendly and helpful staff. Food was good but prices were somewhat high since there is nowhere else you can eat. The hotel is rather remote. Nice rooms all with great balconies facing the lake but not much to see as lots of trees in the way.Nice view from the main outside dining room. We arranged a trip with 3 other couples into Flores for dinner one night and it took 40 minutes to drive there. Dinner was worth it and the van driver waited for us then drove us back.If you stay here, pack up some drinks, wear your bathing suit and walk down to the lake on the walkway about 1 hour before sunset. You can go for a swim in the lake (it was warm) then sit in a thatched roof platform and watch the sun go down over the lake. Very nice and peacefull. Hotel has a nice pool, a hot tub and a gym.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor, better view.

Went on a small group tour and stayed here 3 nights. It's well located if you are going to all the ruins in the area which we did, Ciebal, Yaxha and Tikal. It's around and across Lake Peten from Flores. The hotel has all rooms facing the Lake and it's beautiful at Sunset and when we were there we had a magnificent, stunning, breath taking electrical storm across the lake. The restaurant is attractive overlooking the lake, food is average, and the breakfasts were good. Nice swimming pool, no music or entertainment.

If one really wants to live on spiritual and sacred ground and leave the rest of the world behind, then come here. I has all that a good hotel would deliver. The help and service are both served with earnest grace and smiles.
The smell and calls of the jungle are abundant and you feel a sense of self and wonder about how our modern age has allowed us to frequent a place such as this. The Blanco grilled fish on the bone was so delicious. Unique I believe to those who are connoisseurs of food. I want to keep it a secret but how can i now that I have told all.

Room Tip: Upper rooms have a view of Lake Peten .

We only got to stay at the Camino Real Tikal for 1 night but it was wonderful while we were there! We fly into the hotel by helicopter and we met that their own Helipad by the hotel manager himself to welcome us. He drop us to the front desk to check in and then to our rooms. We were just returning from El Mirador so we were hot, dirty and tired. Our room was ready for us with the AC on, fresh scent blowing threw the rooms and GREAT water pressure for a long shower!

We did go out to the pool for a little afternoon dip and then down to the dock for the free lake sunset cruise they offer all guest. They provided bread to feed the ducks and turtles and had drinks available on the lake to add to the experience.

Dinner that night in the dinning room was delicious, service was little slow but the prices were good. Breakfast buffet was fresh eggs at a omelet station and fresh fruit and breads.

I only wish we could have stayed another day to really enjoy all the property had to offer!

Everything from the beach to the food was amazing. We were however on tour schedules so our only complaint would be the hour it took for us to be served our breakfasts which would have been fine had we not had transportation and guides waiting for us.

I had a group of exacting and educated seniors at the hotel at the end of March 2011. From the top-down, the General Manager to the Front Desk to breakfast waiters to housekeepers, the service at the hotel was attentive and accommodating (and enthusiastic). A special point about the food: the hotel catered our events in Yaxha and in Tikal--and performed beautifully. Not one tummy problem in 87 American bellies. I'm returning to this property on my own dime with my own family in February 2012. That lake's edge at sunset won't leave my bones.....

I found this place to have lots of amenities. They have a nice restaurant, beautiful swimming pool, hot tub and beach. The rooms had patios with a view of the lake, birds and monkeys. You can drink the water and use the ice. An excursion to Tikal is a must. The sunset over the lake was wonderful.
