Maggie and John run this small guesthouse to high standards. By their own admission, Rossendale has some way to go as a tourist destination, but the area served us well as we sought some quiet moorland walking, and the textile museum not many miles away was remarkable. Because of the closure of pubs, we had some difficulty in finding quality pub meals each evening.
The double room, if none too big, was well equipped, with good decor and absolutely clean. Some stairs had to be climbed to arrive at the room. Tea, coffee, fresh milk and nibbles were provided in the room. The location was very quiet overnight.
Breakfast was excellent, comprising three courses - fruit or cereal, full cooked English breakfast, and home made preserves.
Best of all was the welcome. Without being intrusive, Maggie and John showed an interest in our journey and our needs, and chatted happily after breakfast about the locality and where we could visit.
