This hotel is situated in the heart of Bavaria just off the beaten track. It is a beautiful historic property situated in idyllic Bavarian Castle like setting. Rooms are spacious, very well appointed with gorgeous views of the countryside and castle grounds. The owners, Christian & Ilona , are the most wonderful Host/ess and could not have been more accommodating. All of the staff was friendly, helpful and very professional. The food was fantastic, especially dinner in the courtyard!

Room tip: I stayed in a room in the tower over looking the courtyard and countryside, beautiful!

This is a castle in very good shape, with lovely rooms, the owners even dropped us off at the local golf club for an evening meal and the golf club ran us back. Nothing is to much trouble for the owners who are Dutch.
Village is very quiet.

Room tip: All the rooms are lovely there were 6 of us using 6 rooms all were very high standard.

Avoid booking on booking.com as we were mislead as our rooms were not in the castle and the guest house rooms were incredibly hot. However, Dominic our waiter at dinner was sensational and fun - great wine and outstanding food helped. The town is extremely picturesque with a nearby lake with a zip line so kids could have fun there. Avoid weekends in summer at this hotel as weddings were happening everyday - morning, noon and night! And while lovely, it makes service slow for others.

I seldom return to hotels I've really enjoyed because I don't want to blemish a memorable experience with a lesser perfect one. But this time I did, and Burg Abenberg was a pleasant confirmation of the warm atmosphere offered by the Schneider family running this lovely castle hotel.

I was really just passing by for work, but I was almost feeling on holiday. Almost - because they do have free internet ;)

Room tip: The Tower rooms are great !

We attended a friend's party at the castle over the weekend, was really nice, eating in the old castle feast rooms, and enjoying the beautiful views.

Small tip, many of the rooms available at actually not in the castle itself but in a very nearby guest house, just a few minutes walk down the hill. For us this was fine, but worth double-checking when you book if you really want to stay in the castle itself.

Breakfast was tasty, you can pay a bit less if you don't need it so be sure to mention that when you're there.

Again when staying in the guest house you need to walk up the hill to have breakfast, this was fine for us (even after a few drinks the night before) but for the less abled / older couple would be better using the car.

The overall feel of the place is a good standard, very clean.

Overall recommended :)
