We got this hotel as part of KGB Deal and paid £65pp for 2 night stay including breakfast and dinner on the first night and day pass to the spa (The Old England) which was about 30minutes walk to Baroness. Rooms were nice with tea making facilities, towels were soft and shower was very powerful. I liked that their toileteries were from The White Company! Staff was a one-man band - the receptionist was also the barmaid...who was also the waitress who served us breakfast the next morning! Extremely hard working and friendly couple. Food portions were very generous and for breakfast we had full english which was lovely.
About 1.5hrs drive to Scarfell Pike.
Only down side was the lack of Wi-Fi - although it was free, we got Wi-Fi in the bedroom, but in other areas of hotel we had no service at all, so hard to make any calls. TV signal wasn't very good, but we was hardly in the rooms.

Stayed as a couple June 2013 using a voucher from a deal company.

The hotel is in a great location to a number of tourist spots and also walks. The hotel is situated on a road however this did not really affect us.

The rooms and pub are of a high quality and the extra touches made us feel welcome and at home. The pub food was great - as a veggie I felt catered for at Dinner and Breakfast!

Overall great stay!!

We spent 2 days at the Sun Hotel in Windermere. Ideally situated to explore the beautiful countryside the Lake District has to offer. The room was very modern and furnishings of a high standard. Bathroom was small, but the added touches of warm fluffy towels and shower gel and hair shampoo certainly made up for it.

We also had complimentary biscuits and mineral water each day. Our meal and breakfasts were excellent and we will certainly visit again when staying in the area.

Had 2 nights here to celebrate my 30th birthday.
Room was small but well presented, good quality touches such as the furniture, towels, toiletries. Well stocked refreshment tray and mineral water on our first night.
A few people have mentioned the noisy location so i brought earplugs which helped. Also noted a few people mentioning the blinds and it's true they do allow a lot of sunlight in from very early morning, makes the room hot and very bright especially as we were lucky with the weather. So I can't say I slept well despite comfy bed and quality bedlinen.
It just needs better fitting blackout blinds, or curtains in addition to the existing blinds. It was clean though attention to corners and edges was needed and carpet had stains unfortunately.
That was a shame as it was a very well presented room.
We ate at the Sun on our first night, excellent quality food, very tasty, drinks also very good.
Breakfast was great the first morning, less organised on the second, but again, great quality food.
There are a few rules and regs, the bar closing and using the fire exit after 10pm etc, this was explained to us and we didnt find it problematic, felt a bit more like a b&b in this respect but a very nice one.
Will definitely look at the Sun again next time we visit the Lakes, it was a great location for nipping into windermere, bowness, ambleside and further afield. Used spa pass down at the Macdonald in Bowness - you can park nearby, just pop in and get a pass for the gate. Lovely facilities there, worth a trip.

Room Tip: Only saw our room but i'd recommend earplugs

We booked our room (room 1) as a late deal. Helen was the perfect host as were all her staff. The room was bright, well decorated and spotless. We ate at the hotel every night & enjoyed it all. Homemade sticky toffee pudding is a must. Thank you for a great couple of days.
