“The place by the lake”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

This review is coming slightly late. We actually got married at Renukaji!

Renukaji is a small town and thus one has to be mindful of the fact that there arent many options.

This is a wonderful place to visit during the winters (Nov to Feb) with excellent treks around the lake, a small zoo (or sanctuary as they call it) and a couple of very beautiful temples (We got married in the main one).

The food is decent, dont expect anything extravagant. The resort is basic too, and for that price, you shouldnt expect anything more anyway. That said, rooms are big, usually clean and the open laws and grassy verandahs in the old block are blissful. The clouds set down in the valley in the morning [delayed the marriage by a couple of hours :) ]

This is a scared place so you wont get any non-vegetarian food or booze, nor you're allowed to carry any.

This was my first stay in a govt. owned hotel and believe me they have actually maintained it quite nicely.Hotel is decently priced. All rooms are facing the lake.Rooms are big and spacious with a small balcony with every room and the food is okay(No non-veg ,coz its a holy place). Its an ideal and I believe the only place for a comfortable stay near the lake. One can enjoy the scenic beauty around the hotel and the lake,There's boating and then the evenings you can relax in the hotel gardens.Summers are a bit hot and humid, not a good time to be here.
Overall a nice weekend getaway if you want to get away from hustle bustle of the city.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor would have a better view.

Hotel is just in front of the lake... One of the best thing is that location of the property is really good... It is average maintained & not equipped to handled much people.. Staff is limited and you need to wait for the food at any time.. Highly priced in comparison to maintenance and service. Food quality is good... Overall Average rating is ok for this property.

Room Tip: Room in old block are having better view than in new block.

The place is beautiful and so is the location of this hotel. AC room are failry spacious. Like all government owned properties upkeep is gisgusting. In some of the rooms plaster is peeling off the walls. AC also do not work efficiently. in fact stop cooling after few hours. Though this in the midts of hills, the place is quite hot in summers.

Food is OK, quite home like food. Staff is extremely sluggish and work at their own pace. the biggest negative is road connectivity. A very large tract is almost mud road with very uneven surface. So after crossing Nahan it becomes a tiring wait till you reach your destination.

all said, Hotel is very attractively priced.

Room Tip: avoid 201, it has dampness and has peeling plaster

This is indeed a place or those who want to soak in complete serenity, lush green nature all around, soothing chirping of birds all the time (timing 5 am to 6-7 pm), beautiful natural lake with big fishes who are hungry all the time for your alms, a mini zoo with especially big lions and bears, beautiful sunrise and sunset reflecting in the lake which is just facing the HPTDC hotel. It appears very difficult to go back and join city life once you have have spent here 2 days or more. Do not even think of staying at any other property except HPTDC.

Best part : Order a cup of tea with pakaoras and just relax on the chairs in the sprawling green lawns of the hotel seeing the lake in front and enjoying non stop chirping of birds. Beware of monkeys ??.

Room Tip: There are 2 blocks old and new but choose any room in the old block of 4 rooms because in spite of...

We, myself with family, with friends and with extended family have been visiting Renukaji, for the past some time - say nearly 8 times; sometimes in October and sometimes during December. Renukaji during November, December and Januaryis the best; and if it is Renukaji or thereabout, it has to be HPTDC. At HPTDC The Renuka, we have old block (constructed and previously owned by Forest Department) and the New Block. Younger perople love staying at the Neew Block, but I and my family make it a pont that we get our room (suite) in the Old Block. I have a wonderful view of the grand lake even if I am in my bed, or in the verandah just outside my suite; or in the lawn just outside the verandah. One has the best of every thing here. The lake, the kund, 4 Kms waling treck, chirping birds, animals (specially friendly monkeys), zoo, pollution free enviournment, hills and a river nearby; no local population; and above all so near to Delhi.

Room Tip: If you are a nature lover, The Renuka suite is best.

Went to Renuka Lake in Nov 2012 and stayed for one night in the Renuka HPTDC hotel. Its a small hotel having 2 blocks - Old and New. Both has good airy rooms and AC option is also there if you want to go in summers. Since Renuka lake has religious significance for locals so you won't get any alcohal and non veg food. Otherwise the veg food and service was very good. Go there with an open mind but not with the expectation of a posh hotel, you will get a nice & clean room worth every penny.

Room Tip: All rooms face the lake so anyone can be taken. AC rooms are in the new block.
