The Sana Beach Resort
Ranked #2 of 9 Hotels in Mandarmoni

Mandarmani is anything between 7 to 12 hrs drive - dependent on breaks and traffic AND what time you leave Kolkata. Remember to check tide timings from hotel as the last couple of kms of the approach "road" is the beach itself. The stone "ramp" from road to beach is scary and can difficult for a small car - but that is common for all resorts in Mandarmani. Sana Beach is probably the farthest from the ramp - so its peaceful. The campus is huge - with many different room types. Swimming pool was clean, restaurant was just about adequate. Rooms were clean - but their "in the midst of nature" means you have some bugs with the birds :). Rabbits, deer, fish, geese - kids will love the place. People were very helpful and friendly. Power outage hours are a problem all over Mandarmani - at Sana they had specified hours. Apparently there is NO electric connectivity in the region yet - its all on gen sets.
Mandarmani sea itself was VERY boring (in Nov) - one could not take a dip. Otherwise - nothing else to do at Mandarmani. So it was an average holiday - we enjoyed the peace and quite but missed the sea bathing. Sana, though expensive, seemed a very good choice given the availability there.

They charge you almost a three star price for something you can term as bad as lousily decorated beach huts!
People refer to Sana Resort as an 'eco-friendly' property which is a pathetic excuse for their inadequate power service, which can go kaput anytime!
And why diesel run generators! Shouldn't an 'eco-friendly' place have solar power and wind mills instead?
They charge you for anything that needs electricity. Like a bucket of ice cubes! The insects from the smelly thatched roof come for free though!
Brochure photographs say a thousand lies! It's better to stay away from this overpriced, unkempt place.

Room Tip: Don't check in at all!

Sana Beach resort liked the place & people over the resort. Food was average but the best part was the sea beach - lonely for you living behind the crowd. Also the 24 hr swimming pool has taken a lot of tym of hours playing in water. Overall nice experiance but ya its costly. and the reason no power supply over thr it runs on generator 24x7.

Room Tip: We were in roon 122 ,123,124. Rooms were gud and were near the beach although it was garden facing&l...

The resort is located in a quite area approx 1.5 km away from the hustle and bustle prevelant at Rose Valley Resort. The location is serene and peaceful. Although we had taken a Sea Facing Cottage, the room size was quite small compared to the charge of around 5.2T that we had paid. While booking bargain and you can get 10% to 15% discount. However I think the spot discounts are higher. The food was good although it was clear that the staff lacked training. The sea is quite peaceful and it is enjoyable to walk on the beach which was hardly 100 m from the room we had taken. Overall a satisfying exprience. Further take a taxi from the station where you can get for Rs 400 to 450 against the Rs 700-800 charged by taxi when booked through the hotel

Room Tip: Select the rooms facing the sea. You get a decent view.

Sana Beach Resort is a very average resort with a very expensive price tag. Room service is okay. You can reach the place only by car from Digha station (costs more than 500 INR - expensive for such small distance)
I liked the food there, especially Chinese. Amenities are basic. Whole resort runs on generator backup as there is no power supply. These generators are switched off twice a day for 1 hour each. No hot water in room. You need to call room service and they will bring you a bucket,
If you want a resort where you just want to relax, maybe you will like it. The swimming pool/jacuzzi was not bad. There was a company party in the evening that went on till late night with pretty loud music. Just check with resort for any such bookings before going there so that you don't have to suffer like us. As others mentioned, the sea cannot be viewed from the resort.

Pros:- You will get open air and some space for your kids to play around if they don't find enough open space and open air in the city life.

Cons:-No View of Sea.There is no hot water in bathroom.Blanket provided are dirty.AC hardly even cools even when set to 16 degree in month of december.
The food is sort of ok as expected in mandarmoni.
There is hardly any activites in evening in Mandarmoni in the evening when sun goes down. The entire beach is dark.

Room Tip: Go for Higher priced room to even get basic amneties

Sana beach resorts is one of the costliest (if not the most) in Mandarmoni and command hefty room prices. They also have compulsory packages over long weekends and thus you cannot stay for a night if you want during one such long weekends.

The Layout of the resort is good, and the AC super deluxe cottages are good as well. But the AC standard cottages (i dont remember the exact nomenclature, but i mean the cheaper one) is very claustrophobic. The non AC rooms are almost unlivable.

Food Quality in the restaurant is just OK. The hotel owners should understand that if they want to sell Fish items to bengalis (the biggest share of tourist to the hotel at any given time), they must prepare a great dish out of it to charge a hefty price for the same, as Fish is a household food item eaten almost every day in most Bengali household. Sadly, the food quality wasnt as good as compared to the price and we preferred to eat outside the hotel premised in a shanti where the price/quality ratio was much cheerful.

The Sea water in front of this resort has also turned very dirty. There are deposits of black soot from the emissions of the generator of the hotel and the beach is also spoiled by the driving and tourist activities.

Overall, nice but not any 3/4/5 star affair that they claim.

Room Tip: the rooms high on the tariff list are better ones (in comparison to the others)
