Mandarmani is anything between 7 to 12 hrs drive - dependent on breaks and traffic AND what time you leave Kolkata. Remember to check tide timings from hotel as the last couple of kms of the approach "road" is the beach itself. The stone "ramp" from road to beach is scary and can difficult for a small car - but that is common for all resorts in Mandarmani. Sana Beach is probably the farthest from the ramp - so its peaceful. The campus is huge - with many different room types. Swimming pool was clean, restaurant was just about adequate. Rooms were clean - but their "in the midst of nature" means you have some bugs with the birds :). Rabbits, deer, fish, geese - kids will love the place. People were very helpful and friendly. Power outage hours are a problem all over Mandarmani - at Sana they had specified hours. Apparently there is NO electric connectivity in the region yet - its all on gen sets.
Mandarmani sea itself was VERY boring (in Nov) - one could not take a dip. Otherwise - nothing else to do at Mandarmani. So it was an average holiday - we enjoyed the peace and quite but missed the sea bathing. Sana, though expensive, seemed a very good choice given the availability there.
