If you want to enjoy nature's beauty then dooars is the right place to visit, and the best place to stay in Dooars is JALDAPARA JUNGLE CAMP. It was my honeymoon trip this jan(2014) i really thank Biswajit da and his team for making it a memorable one. We stayed there for 5 days and experienced outstanding hospitality. Rooms were excellent, food was good, and the sight seeing which was all planned by Biswajit da was beyond excellence. Apart from the regular jungle safari there are some places which you can explore only if you stay in jungle camp because these trips are organised exclusively by Biswajit Da. Day 1 river range jeep safari and tea garden stroll, day 2 elephant ride in jaldapara national park and visit to Bhutan, day 3 Buxa Tiger Reserve and Jayanti, day 4 Chilapata and khayerbari, day 5 jeep safari and picnic in the banks of torsa river. In the whole trip we have seen rhinos, elephants, sambar deer, barking deer, bison, Himalayan greater hornbill, and many other species. we have also leopards and royal bengal tigers in khayerbari nature park. Overall experience was wonderful!

We stayed at Jaldapara Jungle camp in December 2013. We had booked for 3 nights, but at the end of it, wished that we could have stayed more.

The owner, Mr.Biswajit, was extremely knowledge about the place and the jungle that is right behind the property. He went out of his way to make sure that we returned back from the place with sweets that are available only in the town near the camp.

Do not go to this place expecting five star comforts and attendants at your beck and call. Go to this place only if you want peace, quiet, calm and soothing chirping of the birds.

Yes, this property borders a fairly busy highway, but then again, good things come to those who are prepared to wait for it. Wait for the sound of the trucks to die down to hear the chirping of the birds.

The food was good. No complaints.

I will strongly recommend this place to the discerning nature lover and road less traveled traveler.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the end of the property.

We visited Jaldapara this New Years and stayed at the Jaldapara Jungle Camp for 3 nights and 4 days. Biswajitji- the owner of the property is someone who is unique in the hospitality industry. Extremely knowledgable about the locality and one who understands what we are looking for effortlessly. The first day he asked us for our preference and once we said we are nature and wildlife enthusiasts he set us up on some unforgettable local trips- a river jeep on a dry river bed, a picnic by the pristine Torsa river, a drive through unending tea gardens, a short trip into Bhutan, an elephant safari that helped us see one horned rhinos- gosh, we cannot believe everything we did and the wonderful experiences and memories we have returned with!! What was also amazing was how caring ahost he was- he ordered some special local sweets and food dor us once he realized we were open to taste the same. Also he ensured we had a wonderful guide and driver in Prashanto for us! The cottages we rented were also amply comfortable and a couple of us in our group were avid birders, we spotted over 20 species in the property itself- the back yard of the camp is an extension of the Jaldapara jungles.
One caveat though- this is a place for avid nature lovers, if you are seekers of urban comforts and luxuries this isn't for you. But for us it was a wonderful opportunity to be close to wildlife and nature within the comforts of Biswajeet's hospitality. Thank you Biswajeetji for this wonderful experience, we will surely return in the coming years to explore more of the wonderful area!

Room Tip: Take the cottages with the loft at the very end of the property if you are a group of friends like w...

Most memorable part of the stay at Jaldapara is host Biswajit and his team who take personal interest in your well being during the stay. We landed at the camp with no prior research. Camp team sent a person with us to get the safari ticket in the evening, arranged a car for us for next day to Bhutan trip and Siliguri. Though our stay was just one night, there were many things to remember. Huts with staircase attic was perfect for a family with kids. Evening bonfire with stories on Biswajit's experience about elephants added to the jungle theme. For vegetarians like us, food in the restaurant was unexpectedly excellent. Biswajit further helped us with travel plans over next few days. Overall, a wonderful and high recommendable experience at Jaldapara jungle camp!

Room Tip: Go for the last 2 hut with attic if you are family with kids.
