After arriving by BA on the 15th April we were all held in the immigration hall for around 1hour and 30mins, make sure your immigration cards are completed in full as if they are not this will slow the process up even more,as an independent traveller i took a taxi from just outside the arrivals hall to St James which cost 31 US Dollars and took approx 40 mins, on arrival we were greeted with champagne and a chorus of congratulations from the staff at the reception led by Colette and team, we were then taking to our room which was a lovely surprise to find we had been kindly upgraded to Reef Suite room 706 to find a bottle of champagne on ice and a lovely message of congratulations. All in all we were well looked after, the beaches are well looked after cleaned every morning of seaweed at the Coco beach, that area has a lovely breeze but make sure you put your your sun block on as you dont realise how hot it is, the Marmora bay is very tranquil and lovely to swim in with lots of water sports on offer to enjoy, the food and beverage were of a high quality and plentyful, with a wide range of choice for all ages, namely some of the staff whom kindly served us with the platinum touch Casilda,Elaine,Marilyn,Stepanine,Edmonson,Rosita,Super Dave,Denfield,Shirley plus all the staff whom made us so welcome, the live music was excellent especially Rhydmic whom had a voice like Adele,we had many a good time at the Docksider and we were entertained by a carribbean rhythmic dancer by special request of Elaine, Harry.H. whom ripped up the dance floor, also entertained by that Hampshire Crooner Smokin Steve Wylde, there wasnt a dry eye in the house after he sang, also i would like to say a special thank you to the cabin crew and staff whom came to my aid after i twisted off the dance floor!!!!! Nelsons Dockyard i found to be very interesting, with lots of history, there were also some beautiful yachts moored there for the Antigua Yacht week, Shirley Heights has magnificent views especially as the sun goes down, make sure to go early as it gets very busy and apply plenty of mosquito repellent if prone to getting bitten,St Johns was an experience with all the hustle and bustle, street vendors and duty free shopping make sure to take your passport for duty free goods,i would also like to say we met some lovely people which made this trip so memorable, i would also like to say a special thank you to Jeff and Jem the duty managers for so kindly taking care of us and treating us to the Piccolo Restaurant which was a lovely touch and made it a Triumphant Holiday,we will look forward to returning in the near future, and recommending this lovely hotel to our family, friends and colleagues.thanking you Hughie H.

Room Tip: They all have lovely views

my wife and I have stayed at St. James Resort for the past three out of four years and plan on returning in late December. our first experience with Antigua and St. James Club was the year I retired. we had travel to many of the Carbibean Islands and wanted to get away and try something new and adventurous, thus we chose Antiqua. Boy,what an wonderful surprise! we usually go in early May but were unable to go last year due to a medical situation I experienced.
we have found the people and staff there to be extremely nice and friendly. Our rooms have always be very, very nice and clean. I found the breakfast in the Rainbow room very nice each morning. the only draw back we have is that there is not very much entertainment after 9 pm

However, if you are looking for that peaceful escape holiday, take several good books and just relax and enjoy the moment, you will return to your home rested and relaxed.

We just returned from a fantastic 6 days at St. James Club. First of all, I highly recommend a beachfront room. Eighteen steps to the ocean made our holiday. The people of the hotel are very accommodating and friendly and if you needed or wanted something, you never had to ask twice. I really appreciated that because you don't want to feel that you're "putting upon" anyone. We preferred the atmosphere of The Docksider for dinner because of the gorgeous space and live music in the background. The grounds are beautiful and so pleasant to walk. I agree with previous comments that it never felt crowded even though, I think, they were pretty booked. The snorkeling was very good by the rocks on Coco's Beach(Atlantic side Beach). We even took a snorkeling trip and I preferred Coco's Beach and the variety of sea life. The place has a lively vibe.

Room Tip: Beachfront Papaya building has the prettiest part of the beach in front of it.

Stayed in the Royal Suites...very nice room, two levels, very spacious...bottle of champagne in the room for arrival...check in was fast---nobody else checking in.... buffet or a la cart menu offered at each of the restaurants, except Piccolo Mundo....breakfast and lunch buffets were good, no complaints, a buffet is a buffet..do the all inclusive...it is a bargain...prices are a bit on the upper end.....you can order a la cart..menu's look attractive(food)...we ate at Piccolo Mundo...$35.00/pp surcharge and pay for the bottle of wine...food was very, very good, views even better...service ok....The staff at the hotel, very courteous, typical island style...my wife and I have been to 18 islands in the Carribean...St. James Club would rank in the top spots for us for these reasons: Quiet, peaceful at the Royal Beach Pool, grounds were in super condition, small and private.....service was good...overall...watch the cab fares...make sure you ask the bellman what the charge would be...had a rogue cab driver who charged us $31.00 for a ride to Shirley Heights..at least he tried to anyway...ask for "TOJO" or "DANIEL" they were the best and lots of fun...Very enjoyable stay.....HOT at the Mamora Bay side...windy at the Beach...best at the pools

Room Tip: Royal Suites was our choice...large rooms..loved it....all rooms have a water view...

Just had 2 week all-inc holiday there.
I know everyone has their own personal ideals for a holiday, but in St James's mine were met for the first time. NOT ONE SIGNLE ADULT WEARING A FOOTBALL SHIRT ! NO LOUD PEOPLE, NO SMOKING IN THE BUILDINGS -Wait for the best bit........... A hotel where even in the Easter holidays you didn't have to fight over sunbeds !!! Oh deep joy. You can get out of bed as and when, poodle down to the beach and get a bed anywhere !!! it looks like 4 beds to one person - Well done St Jams's, this is a huge issue for Brits. Drinks great, ( they have a very nice German Sekt that they pass off as Champagne - don't pull them up on it, just agree and enjoy - its very good. This was also the first time i have had a decent lobster in years, so don't miss the opportunity. Don't concern over stories about seaweed - yes its there but the guys pick it up al day long, so its not a huge issue. There is dress code in the Restaurants which for some reason our american bretheren don't quite get or follow, but we are British so please fly our flag high even if they don't. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Go on the half hour time share meeting. you get a free meal voucher for the Italian which Paul is ha...

We exchanged through Interval for St. James Club. The resort, its pools and grounds were great. The villa we stayed in could use a little work, however it was fine for our stay. St. James has several restaurants on the property, and since we were not all inclusive, we found them to be rather expensive. Within a 15 minute drive there are however several great places to eat such as in Nelson's Dockyard and Falmouth Harbor. A 30 to 40 minute drive on Fig Tree through the rain forest gets you great beaches at Mom's Bay, Frye's Bay and Jolly Harbour, as well as awesome local food that is a lot more for your money than at the resort, again, if you are not all inclusive. The local places are great as well because they offer fresh caught and local fish, which we could not get at the resort.

This was just a fantastic resort to spend our "nearly annual" tropical vacation week! Where to start...
Rooms: I can see where some folks who go with the basic Club rooms might be a little disappointed...These are the oldest rooms in the resort, much like a basic "Holiday Inn" feel to the room and building design...This is definitely a resort where you want to book a higher grade room in my opinion, like we did with a Beachfront, or the lovely Royal Suites...I would book the Beachfront again even before the Royal suites as I loved being right on the beach and on the "cooling" Tradewind side of the resort...I had wanted a first floor with direct beach access off the patio, but my wife was worried about the view being blocked by shrubs while seated and overall privacy issues...We got a second floor room, 344, which had a FABULOUS view and access to the whole resort (including the beach) was easy...and she was right about the view on about half of the first floor rooms being blocked by foliage, so our recommendation would be second floor Beachfront...also the villas for families are very nice, but add "all inclusive" as it will pay for itself!
Service: I felt that everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable and meet our needs, especially when greeted with a smile, "good morning/evening,etc", and the patience derived from embracing the relaxing qualities of "island time"! I saw many examples of guests simply giving their order or request without exchanging any social pleasantries...their review may differ from mine...suffice it to say the folks at the bars, restaurants, and guests services remember those who are pleasant and polite and your service may be enhanced!
Food/Bars: We are not buffet folks, so I cannot review the buffets for dinner, but the breakfast buffets at both Rainbow and Cocos, and lunch buffet at Rainbow were excellent...we enjoyed that at all meals Rainbow and ala carte ordering with varied and good quality menu items...Our favorite however was Piccolo Mondo...Simply the best grilled lobster (with lime butter) we have ever had - and that was just the main course! Worth every dime of the $35/person supplement to the AI plan...So good we went twice! My wife's favorite place to be EVERY afternoon was the Mamora beach grill where she fell in love with the fresh grilled fish sandwich (Thank you Primus!) My favorite drink, which they had at all the bars and on the roving drink cart was the rum punch...My wife loved the fact that most of the bars had champagne by the glass...We were not thrilled with the late night bar...very dark, indoors, and too loud most of the time (which explains why it was inside)...
Watersports/activities:Played tennis most mornings...Really enjoyed the hobies, kayaks, and snorkeling gear...My wife enjoyed the water arobics...we did not find the evening lack of "entertainment" a problem as we often finished up a relaxing evening meal with a drink and a stroll around the resort before bed...
Suggestions for improvement: More background music at the pools and bars, hammocks, book the steel band for more than just the Thursday night Caribbean buffet (they were great and would have been great out by the reef pool bar in the evenings!)
Overall: I think the experience at St James can best be summed up by the words of a very friendly young lady from a group of British travel agents we met who were touring facilities around Antigua - "You made a terrific choice! This is simply the best place we have stayed on our whole trip!"

Room Tip: We suggest a second floor beachfront! Pay the extra and you will be pleased!
