This trip was more than we had imagined. Comfortable cottage with owners in b. and b. next door. Anne and Angus made us feel very welcome and the location of the cottage, views , ideal position for travelling around the island and Harris by car. My husband managed to catch mackerel in the sea loch nearby and the beaches have to be seen to be believed, white sands that go on for literally miles and when the tide comes in it is really clear and turquoise blue. The ones of note were Uig sands in Lewis and Luskentyre beach in Harris. The main shopping is in the small port of Stornaway where there is a large co-op and a Tescos. Please note no shops and only one garage are open on a Sunday as the islanders still believe in keeping Sundays special. We had a lovely trip up to the Butt of Lewis to see the lighthouse and the nesting Gannets and Fulmers. Large sealions in the sea. A windy misty day but all the more impressive to see. Saw white tipped sea eagles in the mountains just before Tarbert. Visited weavers of Harris Tweed and bought some material for future use, as well as the local Hebridean soap factory. We really enjoyed the quiet roads and the peace and quiet of the island and it was a holiday that we will remember with pleasure for a very long time. Thanks so much Anne and Angus.

We found this cottage welcoming and well placed for exploring Lewis and nearby islands. The grandsons, new to the Outer Hebrides, loved the experience.

Friendly and helpful owners, cottage is in the grounds of their house. Ideally situated for seeing the many sites of historical interest within the immediate area. The Callanish Standing Stones can clearly be seen from the verandah of the cottage!
A word of advice, this is a remote & beautiful part of the world, do not expect to find a supermarket just down the road! Restaurants are few and far between, so go prepared, Stornaway is the nearest place of any size with a selection of supermarkets & restaurants, and that is about 45 minutes drive away.

The cottage was extremely well equipped and very comfortable and we looked forward to returning "home" each evening from our travels around the island. Creagan cottage was placed really well for visiting all the facinating places that Lewis has to offer. The Standing stones were clearly visible from the livingroom and only a 10 min walk away! We were within 20mins from Stornoway ( by car)and less than that to the Black House Village.
Ann is a lovely person and very informative about the island, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Creagan cottage. I wish I could go back now !!
Thanks to Ann for a wonderful stay xxxxxx

Friendly welcome, clean, warm & comfotable with everything you need provided. Great for a couple, but also worked well with having 2 additional friends to stay. Callanish stones (I, II & III) within walking distance.

Thanks so much to Ann and Angus for a memorable early-season stay in their self-catering chalet. The lodgings were comfortable, and their company added so much to our experience of Lewis. Tapaidh leibh!
