Don and his family work very hard to make your trip a success, very friendly and helpful with great local knowledge and very interesting to talk to. Roomy rooms and great showers. Excellent breakfast with loads of choices. Callanish standing stones are visible from the house. A great location for visiting Lewis. Don has a great sense of humour too. Off the main road so nice and quiet.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are good.

I just completed a two week trip traveling around Scotland with my family. Over the course of those two weeks, we stayed in eight different B&Bs/guest houses. Leumadir was definitely one of my favorites and was the hands down winner for best eggs, bacon, and black pudding of the entire trip!

The beauty of staying in Callanish is its remoteness. Leumadir is a nearly brand new guest house which was purposefully designed for accommodating guests and making for an enjoyable stay. It was also one of the best values pricewise of our vacation.

Don greeted us upon our arrival and was friendly, welcoming, helpful, and informative. He made us feel right at home. Our rooms were huge in comparison to most B&Bs -- spotlessly clean, with great views, and very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were spacious and the showers were nice and hot.

One of my goals on this trip was to be able to photograph the stones at sunset. Of course, in the summertime, the sun does not set until around 10:30 p.m. It was a beautiful night with a full moon which made for an enjoyable and refreshing walk up the hill to the stones and back. Because the guests are in a separate wing of the home, I felt very comfortable in coming back in late and knowing that I would not be disturbing their family when I did.

The rooms -- both the sleeping rooms and the dining room and other public areas -- were spotlessly clean.

And the breakfast...oh my! Truly the best eggs, bacon, and black pudding on the entire trip. Yum!

If you are traveling to Lewis...definitely consider a stay at Leumadir. You won't regret it!

We stayed for only one night but thoroughly enjoyed it. The choice at breakfast had to be seen to be believed. Every flavour of jam possible and type of tea! The rooms were in a separate annex and were quiet and comfortable. No Tvs, which is our preference.

We really lucked out to find this B&B on the west coast of Isle of Lewis. Our only interest in Stornoway was car ferry. Callandish Standing Stones and Butt of Lewis were our interests, and Leumadir was great location for us. Purpose built, it made for a quiet, relaxing location.

Breakfast was good, conversations were good, directions were good - no complaints. Callandish Standing Stone are visible from room and well worth a visit. Don can tell you about the stones and lots more. I would say more, but read the 3 reviews below - I agree with all they say.

Don and Juanita are excellent hosts. They'll provide maps, books and lots of local information.

The rooms and facility are fairly new. roomy and in excellent shape. The breakfast is superb and if you opt for the optional dinner you won't be disappointed. Don is a great chef.

The B&B is literally a "stones throw" from the Callenish Stones. You can see them from your window.

Leumadir has a purpose built annex of guest rooms, attached to the owner's abode. This means the rooms well address the needs of the guests unlike some B&Bs where you feel you are invading someones home. However you are made to feel at home with great cooked to order, organic breakfasts, and a mine of local information and friendly chat.

The famous Callenish Standing Stones are visible on the near horizon, although the immediate outlook on the working croft may not appeal, but the location could not be better for exploring Lewis north-west coast. A comfortable and welcoming base camp.

We had minor difficulties to find the guest house, because my navigation system led us wrong (basically Leumadair lies directly at the main road...).

Donald gave us a very warm welcome. We felt home immediately, and so did our one year old daughter.

Juanita and Donald are incredible great hosts and they are extraordinary obliging, e.g. Donald brought some toys when our daughter was bored during breakfast. This was our chance to enjoy our breakfast without having to take care for the baby :-).

The rooms were nice and clean - same is true for the breakfast and the guest rooms. Find some pictures of the rooms on their web site.

Breakfast service was excellent - among others they served a lot of fresh fruit which I enjoyed very much. Of course there are also the "typical" things: Cereals, Toast and the “Full Scottish” breakfast if you want.

Make sure you understand that Leumadair is an operating farm. There are geese, pigs, cats and dogs running around. And they've got two birds of prey. If you're as lucky as we were, Donald will show you... Kids will love this place!

The place is very quiet. We slept excellent with an open window.

It's central location on Lewis makes Leumadair a good starting point for severeal day trips on the Isles of Lewis and Harris.

There is a Wireless Hotspot in the guest room.

They will prepare diner, if requested.
