Took my 16-month old girl today - it was a great spot for her! Not too big so we could keep her interested for the whole visit. She loved patting the kangaroos and farm animals. Good price and I would love it if they could bring in season passes - we could easily spend several weekends a month there! Free BBQ areas too so easy to make it a full day excursion!
Would recommend this to anyone who visits the Hunter Valley area!

We took our guest from the UK to the Hunter Valley Zoo to have her photo taken patting a koala.
We had a wonderful time and have souvenir photos of her with a baby wombat, koalas, joeys, kangaroos and emus. This was all within a 1 to 2 hour time frame as our guest was on a tight schedule.
We were highly impressed with the young staff. They were friendly, patient and informative.
Quite a few tourists and families were there at the time having a very relaxed and enjoyable day.
I would highly recommend this zoo to all those who are interested in having a friendly encounter with many Australian animals as well as a variety of other animals, reptiles and birds.

This was an educational experience, made more interesting by the knowledgeable zoo staff who made their relationship with the animals that they care personalised. Their interactions with the animals demonstrated their commitment to their welfare. The Zoo had demonstrations of animal feeding and patting almost every half hour in the morning that we were there. It is well laid out and easy to get around. It is virtually flat so it is not hard walking for the elderly or disabled. There are barbecue areas and lots of covered tables so it is a good place for family get togethers.

We took the grand kids for a trip to this zoo and they were enthralled by being able to get so close to all the animals. Feeding the emus, kangaroos and farm animals was fun and getting to pat a koala and wombat a real treat.
The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic about the animals and the enclosures all very well kept and the food the animals were given, particularly the fruit, looked good enough for us to eat.
There are regular feeding events throughout the day and lovely shady BBQ area to relax in.
The zoo is big enough to keep the kids occupied for about 3 hours and yet intimate and small so you get see everything and don't have to walk too far. Best to get there by about 10.30am so you don't miss the crocodile feeding.
A great day out from Peacehaven Country Cottages & Farmstay and a lovely private zoo that is worth supporting, and great fun for the kids.
