Description: A Gourmet experience in a charming setting: il rosmarino Restaurant is located inside Relais & Chateaux La Meridiana.Experience daily homemade pasta - troffie and ravioli - fresh baked bread, homemade grissini and focaccia. Every dish is prepared with care and skill as traditional Ligurian food is our passion. Here herbs play a major role: basil, marjoram, thyme, sage, chives and rosemary add a touch of flavour to many preparations.A good reason to taste Ligurian menu is the excellence of its fresh products, because artichokes, zucchini and the violet asparagus from Albenga are a must, in combination with a superb extra virgin oil.Winelovers will find their paradise at "il rosmarino" cave... where Edmondo Segre collects the best Italian wines of many different vintages. He can lead you to a sensory examination to highlight differences between similar wines and he can also organize vertical and horizontal wine tastings. His wonderful cellar offers a rich collection of more than 7000 bottles, from rare vintages by famous producers to the emerging new generations of wine makers.Outdoor dining in Summertime: alfresco tables in a breezy patio by blooming gardens are waiting for you during July and August.Open only at dinner-time, reservation suggested.

The prices far outweigh the value here. We went our first night but opted out a second night. The food was not exceptional. €30 a course for small portions doesn’t work for me. Nor were they memorable. Loved hotel. Did not love the restaurant .

The Resteraunt has a pleasant ambiance is well appointed and the staff pleasant and helpful .However I get the impression it is trying a little too hard to be a gourmet or Micheln starred establishment . Dishes like rabbit with mustard ice cream, calves tongue with salt toffee and scallops with raspberry sauce do not impress me! Good food well cooked does.We ate there several times during our visit and although the service was excellent neither my wife could say we had truely memorable meal

This side of Liguria has often been forgotten by the luxury travel world. But there are some exceptions not to be missed. La Meridiana is for sure one of these. It is a sort of enclave of refinement and good taste at the heart of the Golf of Garlenda. When you arrive, you are surprised by a beautiful park, a warm welcome and a tastefully decorated lobby. The restaurant appears classy and charming. The staff are attentive and (if you are friendly with them) they immediately become less formal and gentle in the genuine way. The welcome of the owner is very professional. He loves his place and it shows. You are a true guest of his country house. The food was overall very good.

The first time I experienced this restaurant was long ago, at a sumptuous wedding reception by the swimming pool. Perfection was the byword, under all aspects - location, service, cuisine, wines. I returned recently and had a cosy dinner in their inner Bistrot. Luxury is present, but in a subtle way: not in an often grandiose, trashy exhibition of riches, rather in an understated British sense, with loving attention for every small detail. The owner is Edoardo, tall, suave, and who can easily pass for an English gentleman, also thanks to his flawless English. He's also the wine expert. The head waiter is middle-aged and super kind, as are the very young waitresses.
The aperitif was served in front of the splendid picture windows and came with tiny but agreeable amuse-bouches, consisting of artichoke stems, cheese and crisp focaccia.
We were then escorted to the dining room, where we chose to sit by the fireplace and selected the chef's suggestions. The first course was a vegetarian version of carbonara, with asparagus in lieu of bacon, delicate but filling; the main course consisted of the chef's version of coniglio alla ligure (Ligurian-style rabbit stew), a revelation. Before and between courses we nibbled on a little plate of delicious olives and dipped their home made bread and breadsticks in very subtle, mild olive oil. Needless to say, all products are local, including the fragrant herbs that flatter every dish - rosemary, thyme, basil and so on. The portions are on the small side, although for me this isn't a fault. We by-passed the desserts and were served espresso coffee with some irresistible, soft and juicy, candied orange peel.
In addition to two flutes of prosecco and meal for two, our important bill included cover charges, water and two glasses of pleasant Rossese of Albenga. The charm was priceless.
