Obviously the massive wax palms are a sight to amaze. Incredibly tall and lean trees towering over everything.
The Acaime stop is nice to get your breath back and enjoy a hot drink while watching the hummingbirds hover elegantly around the place.
Montaña Lookout is an uphill hike, but well worth the views of the mountains, and the alternate view and walk through the wax palms on you descent. Really great photos and viewpoints on the descent from Montaña.
We also did a 3 day hike by ourselves (3 people) on another day. From Acaime up to Estrella de Agua, then up to Finca Romerales in the Paramo at 3800m (30mins past Finca Primavera). Incredible hiking to Lago Encantado and then upward toward the snowcapped peak of Tolima (we made it to about 4500m then fog was too thick). Another night at Finca Romerales, then descending to the wax valley again via El Bosque. 3 days, 6-8hours walking per day, cold nights (3-7degrees), incredible people/home stays in the Paramo, and an adventure we'll always remember. Highly recommend if you feel up to the hiking.More
