I visited yesterday for the first time even though I live only half an hour away. It was a beautiful, warm early March day and I was there with a friend and her 2 children. I was impressed as it is an enormous undertaking to set up a private zoo but the owner has certainly chosen a beautiful area and is working hard to enlarge and improve everything all the time.
There is plenty of work in progress - a restaurant, a camping area, holiday bungalows etc are being built as are new enclosures for more animals, such as giraffes and elephants.
However, this did not detract from wandering about viewing happy, clean, well looked after animals.
You have to be prepared to do a lot of walking and a lot uphill but even I, an elderly lady with new knees coped happily, as there are plenty of seats ( and toilets ) along the pathways !
For me, the highlight was the "Plateau des Fauves " with the lions, tigers, cheetahs, panthers, hyenas and, of course, the wonderful white Siberian tigers.
It must be bliss for children but I enjoyed it all enormously, as a very senior adult !
