“Beautiful house, relaxing stay”
Reviewed September 2, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at La Farfollerie in Forges les Eaux. The house itself is beautiful and spacious, and strikes a perfect balance between style and comfort.

Forges itself is a superb little town, with plenty to do, and a great selection of shops, with 2 markets per week selling beautiful fresh local produce. Exploring the local area was very pleasurable - the Avenue Verte, the lakes near the casino, the grounds of the Hôtel de Ville are all good options for a relaxing walk; and the casino and spa at the Domaine de Forges allow you to relax in style. If you are fortunate enough to be in the area when there is a race meet at the Mauquenchy hippodrome, it's an entertaining way to pass an afternoon, and only a short drive away.

Margaret made sure we had all the information we needed to know in advance of our stay, and there was a helpful information pack in the house with information on the local area, along with instructions on how everything worked in the house. Margaret had also left a lovely selection of local goodies for us to enjoy, including a bottle of local cider and some of her own delicious marmalade - a very thoughtful touch.

I'm sure we'll be back for another repeat visit to Forges and la Farfollerie in the not too distant future.

“Great Normandy location”

Ordinary at first glance from outside, this was a great holiday home. It is a characterful French house with good facilities. It kept pretty cool on hot days. The location is great. The nearest, very good, baker is across the road, and there are more. A Carrefour local is a very short walk. There are various local restaurants and the two we went to were very good. We were able to visit Rouen and Jumigieres. Also made longer trips to Paris, Parc Asterix/Senlis(we split up for this: Senlis is a very special medieval/Roman "city" (village really)), and Monet's garden at Giverny. The internet went down a couple of times but Margaret responded very quickly and her local representative came and sorted it, so we were impressed with the customer care.

“Relaxing in Forge”
Reviewed July 8, 2014 for a stay in September 2013

Forge is a small town, with good local butchers, bakers and places to eat out . La Farfollerie is a very comfortable home, with a large well equiped kitchen, that is a cooks dream, the patio doors from the kitchen, to the garden make it a bright and welcoming. There is a very good deli a couple of doors down if you don't feel like cooking or eating out.
The local area has good walks with the Avenue Verde runnning through the town, and has excellent golf courses a short drive away. The local hotel also has a drving range, tennis courts and other facilites, it is also has a large veranda to sit and have a coffee and read.

“La Farfollerie is a fantastic house in the centre of Forges les Eaux”
Reviewed June 23, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A stay at La Farfollerie is a great experience, with a location as central as you can get in a rural town of Haute Normandy, close to Paris and the norther coast. The house is very spacious with comfortable lounge and a well equipped kitchen with great natural light. The booking was seamless with direct contact with the owner Margaret Cook . The facilities at the house was as described and the advantage of a good size garden for meals was exceptional. Easy access to the motorways allowed for day trips to the WW1 Somme Valley and the WW2 Normandy Beachs. The house and locale is ideal for a family holiday.

“Cozy Living in a Lovely Town”
Reviewed June 28, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This little chateau in the middle of picturesque Forges les Eaux proved the perfect place to settle down for a weekend. The kitchen was light and summery, despite the rain outside, and had everything a home chef could wish for. The living room, with it's floor-ceiling windows was incredibly comfortable, and made staying in seem like just as good an option as venturing out. The town of Forges, itself, was lovely, with an open air market, multiple and very good bakeries, and a nearby lake and forested area which made for wonderful walks. All in all, a great weekend both inside the house and out.
