Found it on the internet, struggled to find it but it was really worth it. Very friendly, our room in the 'old skittle alley' was exquisite. An excellent choice of wines, the evening meal was very good and well priced. A very relaxing couple of days. I would recommend this place to anyone who was looking to getting away from it all and enjoy themselves.

First trip to Dorset and couldn't have asked for a better way to start. Nothing too much trouble. Friendly, efficient, and when there was one tiny niggle it was sorted without any fuss. And they have the finest raspberry jam I have ever tasted.

Our first trip to Dorset. We chose this pub/hotel due to a local recommendation which we checked out on trip advisor. We stayed for three nights, the room was furnished to a very high standard and the bed and linen etc were very comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent, my husband who likes a cooked breakfast felt they were one of the best he has had. I do not like cooked breakfast so had fresh fruit then porridge with cream yum. Evening meals were nice tho not terrific. The pub looked on the inside how it looks on the outside - traditional, which we liked. Staff were very friendly. The pub is not in a village, and is a bit of a drive to any other amenities. I would happily stay there again

We had a 2 night stay here for a wedding with a 7 month old baby. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and understanding.

The food and beer are excellent, and when our baby monitor wouldn't stretch to the restaurant they set us up a table outside our room with candles, then were happy to bring out the food. A great night!

The room was spacious, very clean, really comfy bed and in a lovely setting.

Will definitely return

Despite making a telephone call for a three night booking and receiving an e-mail confiming it, I received a phone call less than 48 hours before I was due to arrive saying that they had 'made a mistake' they could only accommodate us for two instead of three nights. No offer of compensation whatsoever, and following a phone call back to them was made to feel as if it was my fault, I feel I have been treated discracefully no alternative, no sorry...nothing. Be careful is your booking real? Are they going to contact you late? beware!!

We booked a fairly last-minute 2 night stay here, after reading other Trip Advisor reviews. We weren't disappointed! The pub is in a very quiet pretty hamlet, with nice views of the valley. The bar area is traditional and comfortable, and we were very pleased with our lovely room (No 5 in the main pub building) - all recently refurbished with the widest bath we've ever seen! We had dinner in the pub both nights, food very reasonable and delicious. Good beers beautifully kept, and all the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Generous breakfasts too. The village is close to Cerne Abbas, another pretty village with the famous Giant, and we also visited Sherborne while in the area, a nice little town with a great Castle to visit. All in all would definitely stay at the Brace of Pheasants again.

I stayed in one of the rooms above the pub and as far as pub accommodation goes, this is excellent with my only criticism being that the wall in the bathroom was rather thin and I could hear the couple in the next room (from the bathroom only). The stay was let down by the quality of food in the restaurant and in particular the desserts. This was to be a special meal with an old friend who I hadn't seen for many years so when you are served a couple of pairs in a questionable sauce that could not be cut with a chainsaw you tend to question the meaning of 'gastro pub'! The breakfast was the usual greasy British fare that leaves you feeling bloated rather than satisfied. Still, the location is very nice and the rooms well above usual pub standards, so my suggestion is to stay here and bring your own sandwiches.
