Visited last year and loved it so much we returned. I didn't think it could be improved upon, how I was wrong. Decorated bedroom, new bathroom, superb weather, fantastic views, pot of tea and homemade cake on arrival and still the BEST scrambled egg I have ever had. Thank you Hilary for your hospitality and recommendations. Visited the nearby Kendal food festival. Looking forward to returning

Absolutely fabulous!

Stunning weather, beautiful views and superb walks. And the room that we had stayed in last year had been beautifully re-decorated!

Thank you Hilary and Andrew, we'll be back.

Nicola and Johnny McGlynn

Room Tip: I had a tour, they all looked good!

I stayed at Brownber hall on Sat 16th February for one night only, what a pity I couldn't stay longer. The weather was starting to look really good the Sunday morning that I left but even on Sat. evening it was fairly mild. The house itself was beautiful, very clean and organised. The room was good with an excellent en-suite shower/toilet, the linen fresh and clean and the bed comfortable plus a tv with excellent signal. Two local pubs provide food, I chose the Black Swan for the real ales. The food there was excellent served by smart friendly staff, portions were large! Back at Brownber in front of the woodburner in the lounge was a large flatscreen tv were you can sit with a beer or glass of wine and relax, lovelly. Hilary and Drew were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is a feast and will keep you going for a good while, even if you're walking. Definately stay again if I get the chance, only for longer!

A warm welcome is assured with nothing too much trouble. Two wet, muddy walkers invited to sit by the fire and enjoy afternoon tea whilst our wet gear was whisked away to the drying room and returned warm and dry the following morning. Transport provided to the village pub for an evening meal and then back again. If only there were more owners who looked after their guests in this way.

Thank you for your kind comments. We wish that we could guarantee good weather but try to make sure that we send our walkers on their way warm, dry and rested. I hope we will see you again - if so remember to ask for your "returning guest discount". Hilary

What a lovely experience at this B&B!
We were greeted warmly and offered tea and cake. The room had the usual additions like tea and coffee plus two packets of different biscuits.
The room was great. We went for a superior room as we wanted a view. And it turned out that view was lovely.
We were given recommendations as to where to eat our evening meal and when we came back we could have a drink in the lounge, from a selection of wine, beer and soft drinks and pay on an honesty basis.
Well done Brownber Hall.
The value for money was excellent.
