We stayed for three nights after a two week tour of the Island. Rana212 is the plushest of all the hotels we visited in Sri Lanka. Built within the last year it is contructed as a series of small blocks set in lovely gardens just a few yards behind a perfect, tranquil "Bounty" beach (if you remember the old Bounty ads).
Room was very smart with a huge bathroom - had to make the tough choice between a couple of lengths of the bath or a jog round the shower!
Friendly, smiley service,in common with everywhere in Sri Lanka, rooms serviced twice a day.
In contrast to some of the reviews here, I thought the food was excellent: high quality ingredients with some nice local specialities that we hadn't encountered elsewhere. At least one cook to order special on the buffet each day, plus lunchtime specials at the beach bar.
A couple of points worth noting however which may be negatives to some:
- hotel is miles from anywhere, so don't expect to find any local nightlife!
- beach looks stunning, but shelves quite steeply so frequently not safe for swimming and possibly never safe for kids to swim.
- on the expensive side compared with prices away from the coastMore
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
