What a stupendous place! When you arrive you immediately see that this is a place of distinction having that "wow" feeling about it.
The gardens are splendid; such a variety of plants, beautiful flowers and different species of palm trees offering shade round a pristine swimming pool and the garden leading to the beach.
The ensuite bedroom was spacious and comfortably furnished. The dining area was serviced by competent and caring staff; the food was delicious there being a good variety to choose from and if you wanted something slightly different it was prepared for you without delay.
The spa provided wonderful treatments by well trained masseurs; leaving one delightfully relaxed and refreshed.
This is a wonderful place to feel luxuriously comfortable and I certainly hope to return before too long.

Room Tip: Very comfortable bed from where you can listen to the sound of the sea.

Stayed at Ranna 212 for 3 nights at the end of March and beginning of April 2013. This is a lovely, modern hotel where you can really get away from it all. It is far away from the actual Tangalle town, but this was not a problem for us as we just wanted a quiet stay by the beach. Impeccable service, the staff are extremely helpful and caring. We also went to the spa for massages, which were very nice and reasonably priced. Great food as well. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The pool is quite small, but the beach is very long and beautiful. However, the sea is very rough, especially in the afternoon and evening. Ranna 212 also has a DVD collection. We had a wonderfully peaceful stay here and would love to return.

My husband and I stayed at Ranna 212 for five nights after touring Sri Lanka for three weeks. It was the perfect place to rest and relax after a sightseeing whirlwind! The location is beautiful - set on a deserted, beautiful palm tree lined beach. Walking on the beach every morning and evening was definitely a highlight. The rooms are obviously new, very spacious and comfortable. The air conditioning and wifi work perfectly. We really liked the food too - the breakfast buffet is very, very yummy. The staff is great - very professional, helpful and kind.

Ranna 212 definitely deserves a five star review! Excellent property, excellent food, excellent staff and beyond excellent location.

A very nice hotel directly at the beach. If you want to relax is this the right adress. It is located some kilometers far from Tangalle so that you need a tuktuk to get there, but for that you have an empty and wonderful beach for your own. The food is very good. They offer a large variety of typical sri lankan food but also food for those who like to eat intercontinental. The service at the restaurant was perfect. When you like to eat at an other place, they bring you the food there as well. And when you like to have a candle light dinner at the beach they arrange even this for you. At the time we stayed there the hotel was not completely fully booked, so that they sometimes couldn`t offer the full program (just one restaurant instead of two, for example). That was a pity, but ok. All the people were very friendly and very kindly. We liked the style of the hotel. There are a lot of nice details they made, very naturally and modern. The rooms are very aesthetic and the roomservice surprised almost every day with a pleasantry. They also have a small spa where you can get different types of very good massages, etc. All in all we can say that it`s a perfect place to spend your holidays!

Located in a tucked-away corner on Sri Lanka's wild southern coast, this small, boutique-style hotel is about 15 km outside of Tangalle but a hop, skip and jump away from the pounding waves and miles of idyllic palm-fringed golden beach. The sea is a bit too rough for swimming most of the time – although the helpful lifeguards will advise on the best times for a dip – but there is a lovely shaded pool for lounging by. The rooms are spacious, well-apointed and comfortable, if not top-notch luxury. The spa offers all you could ask for by way of massage and beauty treatments if you fancy a spot of pampering. Tonic Bar is a cosy spot for cocktails by candlelight and the breezy Senses Restaurant serves a good range of carefully prepared International and Sri Lankan cuisine (do try the Sri Lankan dishes at breakfast...!) Overall Ranna offers extremely good value for money, but what makes it memorable is the warm, smiling and friendly staff who make every effort to ensure your stay is perfect. Special mention should go to Jehan and his restaurant staff who fall over themselves to make sure you are happy and that your every culinary need is being met. This is Sri Lankan hospitality at its very best and it would take a hard heart not to be utterly charmed.
