We only visit the Crown and Anchor for their £10.95 fish menu. Enough variety for a visit a couple of times a year, the food quality is very good and wines reasonably priced. Waiting sevice is sometimes a bit lackluster but the food makes up for these short comings.

Very disappointed on my last visit to this Pub, which I have visited many times before. Had friends coming for Dinner, He is a retired Chef and I wanted him to see how good Shoreham is. Booked Table 5 days in advance. When arriving it was obvious that this had been missed. all other tables reserved so was shown to far end of Balcony, no atmosphere, cut off from rest of restaurant. no apology or explanation. Our friends were not impressed, neither was I. Did not raise the matter too much in front of guests but emailed a complaint on Sunday morning. so far no response to my complaint. Will not eat there again

Went here with 10 family members including children for Sunday lunch. The overall experience was good. Prompt service, friendly waiter. Roast beef average to good. Others had the homemade burgers & fish and chips and said they were good. It's a nice setting, especially in warmer weather when it's nice to sit outside. I much prefer the relaxed atmosphere during the day.
As another reviewer said, it does get rowdy on a Saturday night which made me feel uncomfortable.

This is a great pub in the heart of Shoreham-by-Sea, a sweet little seaside village not far from Brighton.

We visited for Sunday lunch - beef and vegetarian nut roast, both which were excellent. The meat was tender, the nut roast was delicious and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Well done the chef!

The staff were lovely, attentive and organised (unlike many of the awful studenty service industry staff that you encounter in Brighton). All of the above, coupled with the pubs's gorgeous river location, make this a great place to visit. Would recommend.

The front of the Crown and Anchor and the old pirate could do with some tlc.

Inside, there is a lot of space with some appeal. Varied seating and two bars. Staff are friendly.

We went for lunch and I saw some attractive food coming from the kitchen. We just had a sandwich and stilton/bacon burger with "soft onions". The sandwich was fine. The burger looked disappointing. Oddly, a small sphere of minced meat in a large un-toasted bap with nothing else in there apart from half a slice of streaky bacon,a small bit of fried onion and a smear of stilton. However, there was some salad on the plate so once I stuffed it all together things looked a little better. The meat actually did taste pretty good. This, however, is not the best burger in Shoreham...

There are great views across the river and there is a mezzanine gallery too. I haven't been in the evening recently but I can imagine this could be a pretty vibrant venue - especially in summer.
