“Excellent food but a long wait!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

We booked for Sunday lunch for 1 o'clock and duly arrived on time. Upon arriving we were advised that our table would be ready shortly as they were just waiting for a table to finish and apologised that we would have a five to ten minute wait. As we were with my elderly father, who is unable to stand for any length of time, we sat at a table in the bar area and as the light was much better for him asked if we could eat there instead. The bar staff were incredibly helpful and said it would be no problem at all and set the table for us.

We then unfortunately had a forty minute wait from the time we ordered to the time we were served our lunch.
When I queried the wait I was advised that a table of eight had arrived just before us and that was the cause of the delay.

When our meals arrived, we all had Roast Pork, we could not fault the food, it was excellent! We had 7 different types of vegetables with a good helping of pork, Yorkshire pudding and apple sauce .
My father had the treacle pudding with ice cream for dessert and my partner and I had very large portions of ice cream. All excellent value!

When we got up to leave so did the occupants of our booked table, just glad we didn't wait for it to become free!

“How the mighty have fallen”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

It seems one of Shoreham's finest old pubs has become complacent. The previously excellent Thai food is now worse than microwaveable. The Sunday roasts over-cooked and - I think - using cheaper cuts of meat. Even the older members of staff seem more offhand these days

The ale choice and atmosphere is still great, but I certainly won't be eating here again. Apparently the Red Lion on the top road has recently improved its food, so we'll be up there next time we're in Shoreham for dinner.

“Worst Thai food I've ever eaten”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

We came for lunch on a Wednesday and it was half full. We ordered our food and then waited half an hour for the starter, 4 tiny and i mean tiny bought in spring rolls that tasted of nothing but black pepper, for £3.80. Then we waited another age for our mains. I thought I would play it safe and ordered Pad Thai, what a disaster it was. Big chunks of undercooked carrot and broccoli, greasy fatty duck skin, and bland greasy noodles. The worst I've ever eaten. If this is meant to be the best in shoreham then ill keep having it in brighton. My wife's noodles were no better, again greasy and tasteless. All this for £19, total crap food and a rip off, we won't be going back.

“Noisy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

We booked a table at the Royal Sovereign for Saturday evening but we had to leave before the meal. The table was next to an outside door and there were so many noisy drinkers that we couldn't hold any kind of conversation. It was such a shame as we were recommended to go there.
