“Lovely lady but shouldn't be running a guest house”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Unfortunately we had quite a few bad experiences at this B&B: despite Rita phoning us several times to check what type of accommodation we required, we were put in a room that accommodated a family with 1 child instead of 2 children. There was lots of building work going on and consequently there were problems with the electrics; the light in our shower room only came on when someone switched on a light in the communal toilet along the hall! Also there was a very unpleasant smell in the house, it may have been the residential cat but whatever it was it didn't smell good. Rita told us we would get a part-refund for the lack of bed but, despite a phone call to chase this up, this was never received. We were very disappointed with the overall service and we feel that Rita means well but just isn't the right person to be running a guest house.

Shoreham-By-Sea is a beautiful, sweet town. I grew up there and have a family home by the beach which unfortunately we have to let out for rather long periods of time, so when we found a lovely B&B like this we were very happy. This B&B is very comfortable, homely and hospitable, and the breakfast is absolutely gorgeous, it is close to everything Shoreham has to offer and there are great transport links to Brighton and Hove, etc. The location of The White House is particularly lovely as the sea is so close by, one of my favorite things to do is go for a long leisurely walk along the beach after supper and then to go back to such a comfortable B&B was bliss!

We stayed at this B&B for one night to attend a party in Shoreham and were so pleased to have chosen such a lovely place to stay. Rita made us feel very welcome even offering us tea and coffee on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. The highlight of our stay was Rita's enormous breakfast which set us up for the day. Will definitely be going back to stay again.

Very nice room with plenty of space, nice clean en suite bathroom and shower.
The owner, Rita, welcomed me at the door and fully explained all the facilities. Had a good nights sleep and the breakfast could not be beaten.
Rita provided an endless all you can eat breakfast, and tea coffee, even offered tea or coffee on arrival each evening.
Located very close to the beach.walking distance to pubs and restaurants.
Looking forward to staying again in the future.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have en suite so ask when booking.

I joined friends this weekend for an 80th Birthday Party in Shoreham. \three other people booked rooms at the hotel and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are clean, and there is a beautiful conservatory and lounge.
Breakfast was very enjoyable and I have to say it was like going into the home of a
kind relative. I hope that we can stay with Rita again soon.

Avoid this place! I booked for myself, my wife and ten year old son to stay Saturday night, May21st. It was booked over the phone, and I explained we are there house-hunting and would arrive early evening. The landlady, Rita, said she did not require a deposit, DESPITE MY OFFER OF ONE!
We arrived after a 2.5 hour journey to Brighton, and after ten hours house-hunting... on arrival, she came out to our car and exclaimed "I thought you weren't coming and I've let the room out!' - my wife could not believe it and my son was very upset! We had to drive all the way back home - this B&B should not be allowed to trade! In fact there are several similar complaints online about this place - DO NOT USE THE WHITE HOUSE!

We chose this B&B as we had to visit Brighton suddenly on an urgent family matter. We stayed one night and that was one night too many!

The room was small with no facilities, our bathroom (which was not very clean) was nowhere near the room and we had to walk through the owners lounge to get there.

Breakfast was terrible, cat hair on the bacon and a thick layer of green mould on the marmalade, and paid £70 for the night.

The owner was however a really nice lady, she just shouldn't be running a B&B.
