From the minute we arrived, we immediately felt at home. The lovely staff, Chiara, Sylvia and Gabriëlla gave us a really warm welcome. Our apartment was very nice, very nice and tastefully decorated. The only critical comment we can think of, that the shower was a littlebit too small. The environment is just lovely, very well kept, proper and clean. A lovely pool and really nice chairs and other ways to relax in the sun.
Every evening you can choose to have dinner in their beautiful restaurant outside, or not. We had a lovely meal for 3 evenings and with that, excellent wine. And again such nice and friendly people. They took the time to explain about the food and they're just lovely people. I was just sad to go, feeling so much at home. We will recommend Guadalupe to everyone and we will back again for sure. Thank you Chiara, Sylvia, Gabriëlla and everyone else for a lovely time. Love, Aldo & Sas.

The resort is nicely located near Grosseto (15 min) and the sea (20 min). Also all other main Tuscany 'must sees' are within 90 minutes drive. The location itself is a reconstructed old farm, turned into an apartment based holiday facility. The first thing we noticed is that the photo's on the website are too positive compared to reality. The rooms and apartments are smaller and less luxurious than we were expecting (based on the photo's). The apartments have a typical Italian basic decoration with a very very basic kitchen. You can prepare some meals, but only very simple ones. Also the fridge is too small for this climate and for 6 persons. Good thing about the apartment that it has adjustable airconditioning in all rooms and also free wifi (logging in each time is a bit of a hassle though, when it is for free, just put it open).

There is a restaurant next to the pool, which is open 4 nights for dinner and 7 mornings for breakfast. Breakfast was not included in our arrangement, so we used it twice. Breakfast in buffet style is typically South European, sweet soft roles & bunns, serial, fresh fruit. The North European traveler misses a variety in bread and toppings. So if it is included in your trip, it is ok. If you have to pay extra (like us) I think it is better you get some breakfast stuff at the supermarket.
We also went for dinner once, on the day of arrival. I guess all guest were thinking the same, as the place was packed (on the outside terras). There was a standard menu for the day, although you could order some dishes a la carte as well. The menu costed 30 euro's for 4 courses. For us (being experiences travelers and restaurant visitors) we have seen and tasted better. Especially in Italy, the land of fine food, expectations are always high. That expectation was clearly not met. Price/quality was off, for the same budget there is wide range of lovely restaurants at the coast to pick from, which we did... Also the serving of the coursed was very very slow, probably because of the full restaurant. All in all, we found the whole setting & experience amateur like.

General remarks: when checking in you need to SIGN the 'general rules & conditions'. In my 20+ years of traveling I have never had to that anywhere! When I asked why, they said they had bad experiences with guests! So guess how you think I felt :( Of course I signed it, but I did not give me a very hospital feeling, rather a feeling of distrust.

Although the owners and employee do their best and everything with good intentions, the treatment and how they behave towards guests is quite inside-out. Meaning that they take there own opinion/experiences/needs/challenges as the starting point for their solutions and propositions. I would really recommend to the owners to stay in their own apartments themselves for a week or so.. I think such an outside-in experience through the eyes of a guest of their Resort, would (hopefully) really contribute to improve this place. In the basis it is a very nice to stay, it is all the little agonizing things that will not make us come back. Then there are real resorts where everything is build around an ultimate holiday experience for their guests.

Good things:
- location
- pool environment
- airconditioning & free wifi

To improve:
- service approach
- don't make guests sign rules & conditions
- price/quality in the restaurant
- change the background pool music at night, 'best of Queen' for 4 nights in row is too much

I visited the Country Resort Guadalupe in August of 2008 with my family and friends for 4 days. The location was amazing and as for the rooms and facilities they were 2nd to none. The staff were attentive to my every need. We really enjoyed our days lying out by the pool, soaking up the Tuscan sun and our evenings exploring the surrounding villages, taking in the local night life with it's cultural flair. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting to go on a holiday to Italy. We really had an amazing time.
