We called in on the off chance that they may have a room, and they did. It took a while to be dealt with but the bar was very busy, however the staff were very polite and helpful. Our room was massive with a four poster bed, lots of storage including a walk in wardrobe and the bathroom was large with a corner bath. There was tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. Biggest gripe, no plug near a mirror, and there was a drawer marked hair dryer, but it was missing. The worst thing to say, is that it was all a bit dated, but perfectly clean. The bed was as hard as nails and there was a hole in the quilt cover. The bar was extremely busy, and they had run out of a lot of food, and the annoying thing was that they didn't tell us when we asked for menus. So I had to choose again. However we didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive and the focus is more on quantity than quality, but it was eatable. Hubby ordered a pint of Doombar, but isn't sure what they actually gave him, and the white wine tastes like vinegar. Overall opinion is that it is cheap and cheerful, but ok for one night

On a recent holiday we (7 of us - 4 adults & 3 children under 5) were looking for somewhere to eat on our 1st night & we happened upon the grange. What a find - friendly, helpful staff. Amazing food that was both generous and delicious. We enjoyed it so much and were made to feel so welcome that we came back every night for a meal. I think it would be safe to say that between us we sampled nearly everything on the menu and not once were we disappointed. Eating out with children can be difficult as not all places are child as well as adult friendly & in the past we have had to compromise on food quality in order to satisfy the children but not here the menu was ample enough to please all. The grange food was all of the highest quality & taste. Steaks cooked to perfection. Childrens chicken goujons had real white chicken breast & the home made chips were amazing. Would highly recommend to familes, couples anyone with a taste for fine home cooked food at reasonable prices.

By chance we happened upon The Grange in need of food and drinks and we foolishly entered, it was like stepping back in time back decor awful music....but the worst was to come my wife and I ordered our food, a simple burger and chips and equally simple scampi and chips. 20 minutes later two piles of stuff arrived looking like it had all been fried together a burger so tough only the middle was edible, scampi hard as stones and chips covered in oil that must be weeks old let alone days old. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Discovered this place recently, a long time ago I visited and didn't like it, but now it is superb. There is a beer room, with about 30 beers and 20 ciders. There is a beer man who knows what he's talking about and it's so inexpensive. £2.50 a pint. Good atmosphere, well managed, well maintained. Excellent.

We had a meal on Saturday as a group, and although most had the turkey, I opted for the scampi, chips & peas. It was superb, piping hot and a propper portion, unlike many other places. Finished with a lush crumble, superb value, and the tap room full of specialist ciders and ales is simply awesome. Ignore my room score, we never used one, but had to put something.
