“An excellent hotel for rest and relaxation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week holiday at The Yakinthos. We were warmly welcomed with a much needed drink of fresh orange juice which set the tone for the entire holiday. The hotel staff exceeded all expectations, they are friendly, cheerful and helpful ( thank you Maria for the translating!) at all times, always under the watchful eye of Olga the very gracious owner. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout with attractive pool and reception areas. The air conditioning in the rooms puts many 5 star hotels to shame - quiet and powerful. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast each morning with homemade yogurt and other tradtional Cretan food although all nationalities are catered for including egg and bacon for the Brits! The lovely beech is a 2 min walk away via a quiet lane. There are many restaurants to choose from in the surrounding area and Hania is only around 3 miles away by bus or taxi (8Euro each way). We look forward to our next stay The Yakinthos.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool and pretty garden.

We had a very pleasant stay at Yakinthos hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to get to Chania town, and also Agia Marina and Platanias, as there are regular buses each way. The room was clean and comfortable, the beds a bit hard but a good sleep nonetheless. The air conditioning was very powerful. There was also a fridge which was handy. Breakfast was what you would expect; basic continental. Our room overlooked the road, we had no problems sleeping. The swimming pool was lovely, but there was not enough sunbeds during the day until late in the afternoon. The beach is just behind the hotel, plenty of space and crystal clear water. Overall, a very nice hotel, quiet and helpful staff, good location and easy access to other attractions of the area.

On arrival was greeted with an ice cold fruit juice, so needed!
This is the place to go if you want a relaxing break, the staff do their utmost to make you feel welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Thanks especially to Maria.
Had a room overlooking the pool and had the best nights sleep in a long while!
Breakfast was plentiful, fresh with lots to choose from.
Two minute walk to the beach (turn left for the free sunbeds)
The Piato restaurant (out of hotel & turn left) is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.
Would we go again? Yes definitely.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Yakinthos hotel, which was helped by some wonderful service from the attentive staff. The hotel is very close to a small, but tidy and never overly busy, beach and has a decent sized pool for which there were always some lounges available.

The location is OK, but is kind of neither here nor there in terms of bar and restaurant options as it is between two small resorts on the main road from Chania to Platanas. However, there is a decent bus service into Chania, which is an attractive city with a plethora of good bars and restaurants.

Breakfast had a variety of options including fruit, cereals, bacon and eggs and the usual continental options.

The rooms are OK, although the bathroom was very basic, with no bath and a easy-to-flood-the-bathroom shower. The double bed did not have one large mattress but two small ones with pieces of foam in-between, for which the sheets hardly fit and sometimes were slightly torn. The mattresses themselves were as firm as I have ever known in a hotel and not at all comfortable. The rooms have air-con but this is pretty weak.

Our balcony overlooked a very busy main road. Even the very good double glazing could not keep out the noise of the motorbikes tearing along at all hours.

Despite these negatives we still enjoyed our trip and the hotel provided good value overall and if I could would have rated it as 3+.

Room Tip: Whatever the price; pay for a balcony that does not overlook the very busy main road.

We stayed here for a few days, and we had two rooms all together. They were nice enough to put us in our own little wing! This allowed us to keep our doors open, and close this large door in the hallway! The staff was nice, and the pool was really pretty. On the day we were leaving they were nice enough to let us stay by the pool most of the day, as our flight wasn't until 8pm. It's about a 2 minute walk to a nearby beach, about 5 minutes to restaurants, and about 10 mins to old Chania. Very good location! I'd stay here again if I come back to Chania.

Ignore any negatives about this hotel , it punches well above its weight.
The Breakfast selection is superb , the whole place is spotless , pool area excellent with good quality loungers staff friendly and helpfull from the minute you arrive to the moment you leave. Very conveniently placed for other restaurants etc. Platos restaurant in the next block has excellent food and is run by the nicest friendliest staff you could wish for. Bus into Chania just over the road and tickets can be obtained from reception , only takes about 20 mins. Cannot reccomend it highly enough

Room Tip: Had a side room , but as rooms are double glazed wouldn,t have thought there would be much differenc...

Me and my girlfriend arrived at Yakinthos Hotel on the 19th July 2013. We had booked a 7-Night stay, with Bed and Breakfast.

On arrival, with nobody to be seen at reception... We rang the bell. A lady (Who I think may have been running the shop) came walking up the steps with a tray full of glasses of Orange Juice. Though it wasn't much, I felt to be a nice touch and a warm welcome.

Our room was nice, clean and cosy, with a double bed (Double mattress, and double frame... Not two singles pushed together). A fridge, which really came in handy. And a balcony with pool view, and a view of the sea in the distance. Air-con I was told would have cost 5 Euro per night, which, although fairly reasonable, we decided to do without.

Pool and facilities wery VERY clean. quiet, and no problem getting sunbeds throughout the day.

Breakfast, no different to most hotels (i.e Some may get bored of it towards the end of the stay) However, I really enjoy buffet breakfasts, and there was a good variety, including bacon and eggs.

No loud music and noise at night, making our nights very peaceful... and with a very nice beach just a few footsteps away. I would highly recommend this hotel, we had a great time!
