“Excellent hotel”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Hotel itself is excellent. It located far enough from road and just near the sea. It’s boutique, and thus calm, quiet and specious.
Hotel is very comfortable and stylish. Everybody here is cordial and hospitable. Reception has a book of recommended services (restaurants, SPAs, excursions, etc). Some treatments (like massage) are available right in the hotel.
Rooms are excellent, furnitured simply, with taste and style. Each has a fridge, small kitchen and balcony.
All the territory covered with free Wi-Fi (on a beach signal could be unstable on some devices).
There is a very good restaurant on a territory. It has meal of the day which could give some variety for a long stay.
Hotel territory is very good, with a small fish pond, swimming pool and children playroom. Playroom has two complimentary hours of care on a weekdays. Hotel territory and staff is very child-friendly.
Stay in a hotel is very comfortable, and there are some other interesting options.
You could rent a car (hotel can assist and you’ll get it to the hotel parking next day) which allows you to reach some taverns, sights and beautiful natural places (recommendations and maps are available on reception).
Nearest town Chania has ancient center, shops, taverns and park. It could be reached by bus (a bit more 1 euro) or taxi (about 8 euro). It also has wonderful children café μικροφυιες (Mikrofyies) which has a lot of various toys to entertain children.
The only pity about Ammos hotel is neighborhood with narrow sidewalks and busy street you need to use each time you want to leave hotel and reach park, supermarket or ancient town Chania.
It should be noted that park is not so comfortable, only road it has is occupied by some car traffic, and there are no other space for walks except pure forest.
However, hotel is highly recommended to stay with young children.

Room Tip: I'd prefer garden view rooms, they are father from a pool and thus quieter.

Really worth staying.
We are staing here for the moment with our son (1.9yo) and are really impressed by the place.
The hotel is situated not in Chania itself but distance from the city center makes you feel calm and relaxed. To get to the city center you will need about 20-25 min running or 60 min walking. Not far is a bus stop.
Hotel is full of families with children and all the staff seems to be in love with every little guest, it's really great - never else we saw such an attitude.
The hotel is charming - it has lot of small details which make it look designed. The beach is great - just few steps down and you are at the seashore where you will find clean sand, warm clear water not deep for about 4-5 m (excellent for children).
Kitchen is nice but for us it is difficult to find smith in menu for our child - he is too small for children menu and the breakfast is not a value for money (9,5euro). It can be more expensive but with hot beverages already cooked.
Hear by is Piata restaurant - we're going to check as it has high rating in TA. And big supermarket InKa where you can bye almost everything to cook for your babies in the room (a small kitchenette exists).
Also pay attention that rooms 25-27 are facing a small garden and a small road to he beach but they havesmal outdoor hall without sun here children can read or play in the afternoon. Seaview rooms on the ground floor are too close to the pool so it seems not really comfortable.
Playing room also exists but most of the toys are not working at the moment.

We just finished a week-long holiday and see that some of our newly-made holiday friends have also left a raving review--we can only second everything they have said. The elegance of the hotel was matched by the warmth of the entire staff. I cannot imagine how they cater so well to small families while still managing to present such a posh, lovely surrounding, but they do it so well and with so much love and style. When our daughter fell ill quite suddenly, two other families offered medicine, several other guests enquired as to how she was doing, and the hotel staff were right by our sides, calling a doctor at midnight for us. She recovered quickly and rejoined her lovely friends, after being treated to ice cream by the always-doting Eleni. Between the wonderful guests, the amazing staff, the perfectly fitted rooms and absolutely delicious food, we can't decide what was best. We will absolutely have to return to try it all again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden view room 37 which also has a bonus sea room and a terrace which stayed shad...

We have just returned from 10 days at Ammos and I nearly cried when we left!! The staff are just amazing- so genuinely lovely, welcoming, helpful and friendly. You feel like an old friend from the moment you arrive. Food, decor, ambience, pool, beach - fantastic. We met so many lovely people too and our 4 year old made countless friends by the pool or on the beach. We will definitely return to this very special place.

Ammos managed to provide that very rare thing - a relaxing and luxurious holiday with small children. We travelled with a 3 year old and a very young baby. The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful, the interiors are just beautiful and the food in the all-day restaurant is so good that we ate there for all but one of our meals. But the best aspect for us was the beautiful beach that is accessed directly from the hotel's pool area; it is especially child-friendly as the sea is shallow for a long stretch and pretty warm, and the hotel-provided sun-loungers and parasols offer plenty of shade. We had a really wonderful stay and are already planning a return visit next year.

This hotel is fabulous. The owner is unbelievably knowledgeable and friendly. He has great tips on things to do and see and great restaurant recommendations. But the food at the hotel is also great. We went with our 3 kids 8 yr old twins and a 9 year old. We did Samaria Gorge with the which is also a must do. We are American but there are tons of European families with kids there too. Just a happy, stylish wonderful place!!

We've just returned from a fabulous week at the Ammos Hotel. Everything was perfect from the location, rooms, service and food. The whole atmosphere is chilled out, even with so many families with young children. I would recommend this for couples or families. We went with our 11 and 13 year olds and they loved it. No need for kids clubs and activities, just great beach, lovely pool and milkshakes served to your beach sun lounger! We never ate anywhere else in the evening and there was enough variety on the menu to have something different (and equally delicious) every night. Would happily go there for a long weekend as a couple too.
