The only real blot on what was an otherwise fantastic holiday, was the issue The only real blot on what was an otherwise fantastic holiday was the prevalence of both wasps and mosquitos around the whole resort. I suspect the time of year is a principle cause combined with a very long and hot summer. However these particular insects are not great for a young family (we have a 2 year old and a 6 month old), - breakfasts and lunches were interrupted/ruined by wasps often ending in us having to run for cover inside -it's a miracle no one got stung. Mosquitos were very active around dusk - prime dining time again for a young family at this time of year - judging by the amount of insect repellant on sale in the supermarket this was clearly a lucrative business! Equally hard for the owners to control i admit but by rhe end of our holiday we had seen some insect traps but probably too little too late. Shame really as we otherwise had a fantastic holiday

The whole resort has been well thought through. Our room was perfect and great to be on the beach. Lots of little ones for our eldest to make friends with.

The only other minor comments were to do with the pool at Asterias, the Kids Club and dinner reservations. The pool is not heated and was a little on the chilly side - fine for adults but too cold for the kids - we found ourselves using the indoor pool at Porto Sani Village. We booked our eldest into kids club for a couple of mornings. On the 2nd day there he hurt his ankle quite badly and couldn't walk properly for the next day or so. Accidents can happen anywhere but none of the staff at the nursery could say what had happenned. The staff (young British girls) are nice enough but we got the feeling they were not as attentive or caring as our normal nursery - perhaps it was a case of 'end of season' for the staff I expect they have been there all summer and looking forward to going home in November when the resort closes. The Greek staff in the hotel and restaurants were on the other hand fantastic and great with the kids - very attentive indeed! Dinner reservations perplexed me a little. I had to spend our2nd morning phoning all the restaurants in order to get bookings for the whole week - not exactly what I want to be doing on holiday! Some restaurants would only let you book 2 days in advance which meant having to phone up many times. The resort was clearly busy but not all tables were always taken so perhaps the restaurants set a quota for the half board guests. Also some additional restaurants had been added to the dine around programme but depended on your booking which was confusing. This seems overly-complicated and guests should have the same access to restaurants across the board - by all means charge supplements on certain menu items if needs be. There is also no pharmacy in the resort which is surprising given the number of guests - so be prepared and bring everything with you!

This review might on the face of it seem a bit negative. However, we would echo many of the very positive comments that are here on this site but doesn't make sense to repeat. We will certainly consider coming again. If we do book again we would look at early season as opposed to late season to perhaps avoid those pesky insects!

Before you read this review, here is a few things you need to know about me. I am supremely hard to please. I have travelled the world and am passionate about travel. I have a beautiful 16 month old boy who is super active and easily bored. The Sani Asterias Suites are fabulous, if you have children do not hesitate to book immediately, here's why...
1. We were met at the airport by a lovely driver in a clean, modern taxi, with child seat, cold water and baby wipes - perfect after a long flight! He even came back to the hotel to return our DVD player which we left on board
2. We were shown straight to our room and thus avoided the usual ghastly reception check in. We were then brought deliciious complimentary mocktails. The room was also stocked with fresh fruit and a complimentary bottle of wine.
3. The room was perfect. Spacious. Clean lines. Comfortable sofas and bed. A large cotbed with bumpers and duvet.
4. The manager Kevin - so very helpful! Nothing is too much trouble. I brought frozen bottles of milk with me as well as meals (my son has particular dietry requirements). There was a fridge with a small ice box in the room whetre I put some of the items, and the rest was stored in the hotel freezer and brought to me upon request by room service. I was also provided by a hot plate, pots and pans, so I could heat up my son's food as needed. Amazing.
5. The restaurants, these are numerous and all serve wonderful fresh delicious food, with many options for children. In addition, at breakfast time there is adjacent play area set up so the kids can play literally alongside the tables.
6. After a long day, once babe had gone to bed, we were too tired to go out for food, so reception arranged for a member of staff to pick up and deliver our food from one of the local restaurants at no extra charge. Incredible service.
7. The beach front suites are literally on the beach, so you can sit out with the baby monitor still in range and even have drinks delivered by the beach bar to your terrace.
8. All the pools and the beachfront have available a large collection of buckets, spades, pool toys, balls, floats etc available for all to use.
9. The spa is wonderful and during the morning children are allowed to use the indoor pool and water jets with you.
10. There is a lovely playground near the suites, and also pushchairs, baby bikes / trikes and adult bikes available for hire. What a wonderful idea!

The only negative thing I have to say is that there were rather a lot of wasps (I got stung by one) which makes eating out a battle. The hotel are trying to combat them, and I know this is a common problem in many hot countries.

We will definitely be returning and were sad indeed to leave.

My wife and twin toddlers have just returned from a blissful 2 week break.

A holiday is here to provide us with rest and recuperation from the stresses of everyday life.

This holiday gave us that is spades and was, without fear of exaggeration, the best break we've had in a very long time. It surpassed the likes of La Mamounia and the Shangri La in Oman, not in sheer opulence but in good old fashioned genuine service.

The crèche facilities were crucial for us to ensure my wife finally got a break from her full time mummying job at home.

I had in the past, hesitated about booking a "resort" style holiday but any fear I had evaporated upon arrival as there is a distinct separation of the suites from the other resort locations which, in themselves appeared to be run on the same excellent lines as Asterias.

There's plenty to do when you get there, (I sneaked away one morning to spend an interesting three hours birdwatching with guide in the wetlands) and there are complimentary boat trips available as well.

Food wise, there is plenty of choice along the marina, and a supermarket to help out with baby necessities.

We stayed in a Marina view suite, with it's own wee garden and direct access to the pool.

Nothing was ever a problem to Kevin and his team, all of whom were outstanding, including Zlatko and Palito at breakfast, Yiannis on the front desk, Vladamir, (whom my wife kept chatting up...without success I hasten to add), Christina in the bar who served great G & T's and finally our babysitter Viorelia

We will most definitely return next year as this hotel surpassed all our expectations.

Thanks again all Sani A!

We spent a week at Asterias right after our wedding three years ago and decided to revisit to celebrate our anniversary this September. The gods were not on our side weatherwise unfortunately, however we had an amazing time irrespective of the weather which is a testament to the location, facilities, service of the hotel.

Room Tip: our suite was on the first floor, which meant we could enjoy lovely dinners in the privacy of our ow...

With a party of ten, you could expect problems to occur however our trip to Sani Asterias suites went without a glitch. The staff re exceptional, nothing was too much for them and they were always welcoming and helpful. We dined in many of the restaurants in the hotels and around the marina and found them all excellent and a big advantage of the resort giving choice without the need to travel. It was great having the harbour to stroll through with no cars allowed and the advantage of the suite buggies to transport you if necessary. The beach was lovely with nice shallow water reaching out into the Aegean, the water sports were good even though wake boarding required an early morning call. The hotel organised an excellent boat trip for the family as well as offering complimentary short trips to all. W leveraged a birthday there and the staff made it a lovely experience. The walks through the woods were lovely with tortoises wandering around freely. I can not think of one thing that disappointed me on the trip and I would encourage anyone to try out the sani resort hotels.

Room Tip: We were located round the pool next to the bar which was great for us it was a quiet bar and there w...

Recently returned from this resort, which is immaculate. The suite, the gardens, beach, pool, restaurant at this property are all spotless, and the service is really excellent, all delivered with a smile. Every restaurant had great views as did our suite, which was really lovely with a big balcony complete with sun beds and sofa. Very good range of dishes for breakfast. We did not eat in the evening at the hotel, as the restaurant was very quiet, so we felt it would lack atmosphere.

Overall we had an excellent experience. We would only make a couple of observations:

There were lots of small children around (early September) which makes it not quite a restful as it could have been. Some of the restaurants around the marina are quite pricey we paid 100 euros for two of us for two courses with a drink each - which is quite expensive for Greece, and there is not a lot of variety foodwise outside Greek/Mediterranean. There were a few cheaper restaurants. I think a Thai or Indian restaurant would do exceptionally well here given the popularity of the resort with the English clientele. There were a few token stabs at Asian cuisine within the sani spa hotel but not sure you can call chicken dipped in paprika Chicken Tandoori!

Room Tip: There are both sea view and marina view rooms. We really liked looking over the marina, so and the...

The most luxurx part of Sani Beach resort (except Sani Asterias Suites, there are Hotel, bungalows, Porto Sani Village). My family use to stay in family suite with two bedroms and two bathrooms, sea front view, few steps from the sea. There is no traffic in the resort and kids are free to walk around and ride rented bucycles. There are a lot of activities for kids and for adults. This year international football accademy for kids was organised.
Suite is furnitured in extremlly good style. Food is very testy. There are a lot of small restaurants all around the resort.
Servis was exellent. We are going to make reservation for next year.

Room Tip: Suites near the hotel are better.
