O Xenonas ton Mylon
Ranked #1 of 1 Myloi B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 2, 2012

We had trouble renting a car at first and ended up feeling a bit stranded in the village of Myloi. There isn't much to do there, and since we were traveling with our four-year-old son, we couldn't even walk to the sea or restaurants. (By the way, if you plan on renting a car in Greece, be sure that you have an international driver's license first.)

Doretta helped us find a rental car quickly, and our stay improved after that. We found ourselves driving into Nafplio daily once we had our car. If I had realized that there was so little to do in Myloi, we would've booked a room in Nafplio and avoided renting a car altogether. It's very easy to take a bus from Athens to Nafplio and back, and you can also get a bus to and from the airport for much cheaper than a taxi. Just ask people on your journey, and someone who knows where to go will help you.

This b&b is a good place to stay if you have a specific reason to stay in Myloi or if you just want to experience a rural Greek village. We did see a different side of Greece than we would've had we stayed in posh Nafplio or busting Athens. However, if your primary goals are to walk through beautiful vistas, shop, and dine at cafes and restaurants, staying in Nafplio would be much more convenient.

All of that said, Doretta was very accommodating and friendly, and her hospitality is worth the drive. Every morning she brought us delicious pancakes that my son loved. Also, there was unlimited firewood for us to burn in the room's fireplace (we came in late December).

The room is a good size with a queen bed and daybed (perfect for a family of 3), and there was a playground in back. There is a coffee pot (with a little coffee and sugar provided) and enough accommodations to cook your own meals.

If you will have a car and want that Greek personal touch, The Myloi Inn is perfect for you.

Our late September visit to Myloi was life changing. Years of Island hopping may have come to an end. The Old National Road is the not the most picture perfect destination in Greece and an initial sight of O Xenonas gives no hint that it is anything more than a normal Greek lodging.
The old turquoise VW Beetle in the car park is a delightful hint of the character within.
The rooms are massive, decorated and furnished in a lovely mix of practical Ikea and traditional styles. The balconies look out over the garden and pasture. The coast and its beautiful sunset are clearly visible; morning sun starts the day beautifully there.
The bathroom is a modern wet-room and the kitchen area is very practical, cooking there was such a pleasure that we hardly bothered to eat out.
Doretta is an amazing host, she runs her business with a big heart and a welcoming, warm personality. As a guest you can be confident that whatever you want to get from your stay at O Xenononas, Doretta will do her best to make it achievable.
Leaving Xenonnas ton Mylon is only tolerable because you know you can return.

Having travelled to all different parts of Greece for the last 22 years, O Xenonas ton Mylon was a very nice surprise. The biggest studio we ever had, well furnished and decorated, enough appliances and (perhaps the most important) the most helpfull and friendly reception ever.
Doretta and her family do really anything to please their guests and make it as comfortable as possible for them. Weather you want an adress for a really good meal, driving instructions for a place to visit or any logistical problem, no problem they are there and will tell you everything.
We stayed for nearly one month and never had a dull moment or felt uncomfortable.
Milli is maybe a little bit out of the normal 'touristic' places, but there are lots of things to see and do in short distances. And O Xenonas ton Mylon, with his friendly family atmosphere, adds a great deal to the value of the place.
Don't be surprised if Doretta is on your doorstep in the morning with freshly baked pancakes and waffles or in the evening with a few peaces of the family barbecue.
All the care they take in the reception and the treatment of their guests is the real meaning of the Greek word 'filoxenia' (love, care and respect for your guests).
There are so many places and things we still want to see and experience in Greece but they will have to wait because next year we will definitely come back here.

We spent four great nights in one of the rooms at Doretta's O Xenonas ton Mylon. A youngish (we like to thnk) older couple, we've had a fair amount of experience of places to stay in Greece, and we say with confidence that Doretta is the friendliest and most helpful host we've ever encountered. The room was enormous as well as comfortable, with plenty of room to move about in if one chose to be indoors, and a floor-to-ceiling window out to a balcony with a view out to the Argolic Gulf. The decorating scheme and the pictures in the room had the feel of being very carefully and artistically chosen, we felt they'd been cared about and that helped us feel cared about. We had lots of help in finding our way around-----we had some quite obscure very local stuff we wanted to find and see, and Doretta put us right on the path. She gave us recommendations for eating as well, which we tried and were very pleased with. If you're doing this bit of the Peloponnese under your own steam by car, then Myloi is a very good base and O Xenonas a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day. Bus links via Argos are pretty good too. Although we didn't have occasion to use the children's playground (ours being long grown up), we much appreciated it being there, it's a real plus for families with young children having the play area right on your doorstep. I see other revewers have mentoned Ziko the dog, who is indeed beautiful and cute: and others have also mentioned breakfast, which is truly enormous and just about removes the need for lunch-----and contains what are without a doubt The. Best. Omelettes. Ever. Anywhere. We shall be back......

We stayed at the Myloi Inn for a few days and we really loved it! The room was very clean and well decorated. My kids also loved the playground and the cute dog Ziko. I think we will go again next summer.

We really enjoyed our stay at the O Xenonas ton Mylon! We've been there in June 2011 and can only recommed the apartments and studios run by Doretta Kostakis for the following (numerous) reasons: nicely furnitured and decorated studios and apartments, all with their own fireplace (for winter) and each with a large balcony, where you can also see the sea from and chill out in the evening listening to the crickets and some frogs! Doretta Kostakis, who is running the place does it with real devotion: Though we booked without breakfast, we found heart-framed trays with fresh waffles or pancakes in our room or she made iced "Frappe" (coffee) for us. She has always been around to recommend places / restaurants to go to and could herself only go to sleep, when she knew we had safely been back from our numerous trips to all the near-by ancient sites, none of them being farther away than like 55 km. You'll find the O Xenonas to Mylon a great place to visit a lot of ancient sites from and also the city of Nafplio, which is only 10 km away. Mycenes (Mykene), Korinthos (Korinth) and Epidauros are only a half to an hours car ride away. Based in the small fishing village Mylon (Myloi / Myli) the O Xenonas ton Mylon (The Myloi Inn) is just the right place to enjoy relaxing holidays with all those stunning ancient sites nearby. In Mylon (Myli / Myloi) you'll find two pebbles beaches right and left to the small harbout, which are very cosy and relaxing. There are sunshades for free at the beach. There is a very nice cafe bar called "Grammes" directly at the sea where you can have your coffee during the daytime and drinks at night and the fresh fish restaurant "O Faros" ("By the lighthouse", there is really a small one) at the harbour all of them (apart from a few other nice restaurants) overlooking the bay with its view to the city of Nafplio, which used to be the capital of Greece before Athens.
Doretta, who is speaking perfect English, her husband and two lovely children moved there from Athens 3 years ago and really make the O Xenonas ton Mylon a lovely place to stay and enjoy your holidays in Argolida (Argolis) Peloponnes!

We (young couple, late 20's) stayed here for 3 nights and were so thrilled with the accommodation. We checked in early (and were greeted with frapes and smiles) and our every question was answered with patience and kindness. The location was perfect for day trips and it is literally a short walk from the beach. By far, the best place we stayed in all of Greece due to the hospitality and care. The room was enormous and very clean, and we received waffles (without charge) for breakfast and apricots for snacks. A handwritten map and personal suggestions for places to visit. We sat on a small balcony and watched the stars and enjoyed a local bakery for lunch snacks and beach treats. It is also a great place for people with children as there is plenty of room and an area for the children to play. Don't stay anywhere else.. especially in Nafplio region! Stay here!!!!!

Room Tip: Best place!!!!!Call in advance and get good directions for arrival. Look for the BP station!
