Looking for a great place in a very quiet setting? Friendly service, great locale and close to a large variety of interesting things to do and see? Then I would recommend getting off of the beaten path and spending some time in the quiet village of Azille and staying at La Dolce Vita. Not what I would really think of for a normal B&B as it has the charm of a quiet hotel yet the comfort of home. We stayed in the "Moroccan" room and it was more than spacious, much larger than most rooms we have stayed in through the years. Will definitely return. Thanks again Natalie!

Room Tip: They all looked good to us! Difficult to make a bad choice as this is a very quiet location.

I do not have a lot of experience with B&Bs. I generally prefer small hotels when I travel. I feel always a bit strange staying in someone's house, but none of that happened at Natalie's La Dolce Vita. The house is great, old charm, beautifully renovated and decorated, has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is located in a very peaceful part of Azille. But let's face it, the charm of any B&B is not just in the house but in the personality of the host, and Natalie is perfect at it.
She is a world traveler herself and is a perfect mix of independent soul and warm, fun, interesting person. When you stay at La Dolce Vita, Natalie will not just rent you a room, she will truly welcome you in her home. She will spend time talking with her guests, which will also catalyze guests talking to each other. It was so fun to share breakfast with travelers from around the world and learning of their journeys. Natalie is an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G cook. She will prepare a delicious breakfast and if you like can pack you lunch or can have a delicious dinner waiting for you at the end of the day. She cooked duck breast for me that I am still salivating at the thought of it, hmmm so good.
The area is great, near Carcassonne, Cathars castles, small charming villages, Canal Du Midi....lots and lots to do there and Natalie will be a great resource for information and recommendations.
I was in France traveling for two weeks, but the three days I spent in Azille at La Dolce Vita were definitely the highlight of my trip. Thank you Natalie, I hope to be back sometime in the near future!

There are three things that make this place so good. First is the excellent hospitality shown by the owner Natalie. She is so friendly and obliging, helping out when our French did not stretch far enough. Second are the cosy rooms, each decorated in a charming, artistic and highly individual style with names like “Safari” and “Moroccan”. Our room “Boudoir” had everything we needed for our comfortable week-long stay. It was also very good value for money. Lastly and by no means least is the food, which is really stunning. Using fresh local ingredients, the meals are well cooked and truly international. As well as traditional food we’ve had Japanese, Mexican and Moroccan dishes. La Dolce Vita has a great location right in the heart of an ancient South of France village and it is an easy journey to Carcassonne and the Cathar castles if you want to explore the history of the region. We would (and have) definitely recommend it.

Haddy9 and Dr.P have hit the nail on the head! We first discovered Azille and La Dolce Vita in 2002 and have stayed and eaten there many times and never been disappointed. It is unique and reflects essentil Azille. It has character, warmth, good food and wine. You will have a very peaceful stay. We've come to love Azille so much that we now have our own place there but we still eat at La Dolce Vita each time we visit Azille and if we have an overflow of visitors we recommend a room at La Dolce Vita. Definitely not to be missed!

The house is an interesting "rabbit's warren", decorated in themes. I stayed in the safari room, complete with faux tiger skin rug and other "tongue-in-cheek" items. Clearly meant as a bit of fun, but the practicalities were taken care of...the bed was comfortable and the room quiet. I had a great night's sleep.
Natalie is passionate about food. She cooks delightfully surprising and inspiring (if you consider yourself a foodie too) dishes, served with excellent local wines.
The table d'hote format, where all the guests eat dinner together, is a great way to meet fellow travellers and find out more about the area. Natalie (American by birth but speaks fluent French) takes the time to come and chat with the guests. A gracious and entertaining host.
In summary, Natalie has created a lovely, characterful place to stay. An extension of her personality. If you see travel as an experience rather than just getting from A to B, this place is for you.
