“Great Cullen Skink”

Kilchoman Distillery Cafe
Restaurant details
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Stopped off here on our way round all the Islay distilleries buying glasses and/or malts to take home and decided to have a bite to eat.

Hubby only had coffee and cake but I could not resist a bowl of their version of Cullen Skink. It was absolutely gorgeous and well worth the price.

Nice little cafe, nice little shop and nice little distillery. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

queued for lunch for 20 minutes with 2 fractious and hungry kids. No movement at all from tables obviously finished their food and drinks even before we arrived. No one seemed able to have a word and move them on and the sanctimonious grin on the face of one of customers as she day and stated at us just added to the sense of injustice. previously I've written positive reviews of this place, but it's the middle of summer chaps, and not turning tables doesn't make economic sense. disappointed.

A great day would be to arrive at Kilchoman distillery, pop into Rockside Farm and take a horse out for a ride on the beach, then return for a tour of the distillery (taking in a dram or two) then experience the fantastic Cullen Skink in the café.

We had lunch here before our distillery tour. They offer homecooked soups, sandwiches and baking. It's a good option as this Part of Islay is Not crowded with restaurants.
