Review of Vic Hislop's Shark Show - CLOSED

It should really be called the Vic Hislop Hates Sharks Show. If you are interested in wildlife conservation or if you actually like sharks this isn't the place for you.

The whole place is set up to convince you that sharks should be eradicated and is filled with horror stories. It's designed to scare you into hating sharks. That said, it doesn't do a very good job, the displays are old and dusty, the movies are older than I am and were poorly put together in the first place.

I have some pretty serious moral objections to Vic and to his shark show, but even taking that out of consideration, this place is not worth the entry fee and needs a serious makeover.

Take your reading glasses, there is a lot of reading of newspaper clips. Lots of stories but most newspaper clips relate just with different authors. The display of the sharks is not fully conceivable without being able to view the full length of these fish. Some interesting exhibits, (one morbid) that are interesting and educational. The video clips jump all over the place, are educational but should have been recorded and spliced better.
I understand and appreciate where Vic is trying to go with this but believe that things could be done differently to make this show more interesting and hands-on to get his point across better and louder.

I took my 2 year old here and found it hard to really enjoy what they had to offer and learn from it. The DVDs in the movie rooms were fantastic, so interesting. Really opened my eyes to sharks. I would go back but without my 2 year old.

Brought my children here many years ago, now brought the grandchildren they were totally absorbed in the sharks and the information. The information provided on the sharks and their attacks on whales was very interesting

If your into the seeing wildlife and protecting the amazing natural world then this place will make you sick!
If you want your kids to grow up to beat puppy dogs over the head then take them to Old Vic's this place has nothing but scenes-less killing in it!
Boycott it if you can.
