Recently I was invited on a golf weekend with some friends. Where else would you go but to a hotel called Hotel Du Golf. Let's face it the name is a bit of a give away. I am not actually interested in playing golf but apparently I am an expert spotter so there would be less time looking in the bushes for lost balls; well that was the plan.

Why did I go... well the restaurant at the hotel is superb with a 'punching above its weight' menu. It is worth walking around the picturesque golf course for nearly 5 hours just to build up the appetite for the evening meal.

Saumon Frais sur ses Pommes de terre Marinées à l’huile au Basilic
Fresh Salmon and Potatoes marinated with Oil and basil 13.90 Euros

Hamburger Classique de l’Albatros, « Frites Fraiches » et Mesclun
Homemade Hamburger, Fresh French Fries and Salad 19.90 Euros

Moelleux à Cœur de Chocolat Blanc et Caramel Sur son Lit de Crème Anglaise à la Vanille
Mellow (soft) Cake with White Chocolate and Caramel Heart, on its Vanilla Custard 8.90 Euros

Breakfast is okay, but then it's difficult to get breakfast wrong... unless you know better.

The bedrooms look out over a lake to the Center Parc site with all sorts of wild fowl . The golf course is close by with a path straight to the club.

Room tip: October seems to be less busy. You can get passes and golf green fees at the hotel. A few electric cycles are available for guests use.

This hotel was the first stop on a three week tour of France. Easy, free on-site parking, a lovely room facing the lake, a wonderful breakfast and great dinners made this a highly recommended hotel. If visiting the Laon, Reims area this would be a great choice to avoid the congestion and hassle of the city.

Stayed for 2 months in July and August whilst working in the area.
The room was super spacious and comfortable with views over the lake, amazing breakfast and being able to hike around the lake and the surrounding beautiful forest every afternoon to unwind at the end of the day.
Special mention to Vincent, the general manager, that made our arrangements easy and stress free (laundry,bills...) and made us fell truly welcome.
The place to stay.

We stayed in this hotel with friends on the last day of our Europe trip.
What a wonderful hotel like night and day to your sister hotel Le Cols St Eloi it was awful.
We had a lovely room and they even created a menu in English for us for the evening meal which was also great.
The only down side to the stay was the cost at the bar €5 for a standard bottle of Coke Zero is a bit steep.

Perfect place for an overnight stop or weekend to explore the region.
Staff welcoming and efficient at check-in, bar and restaurant. Rooms very comfortable and spotlessly clean.
The location is beautiful.

Room tip: Request lake view
