Banff Boundary Lodge
Reviewed November 10, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights, then again for 1 night on our way back to Calary. The apartments are very spacious and clean. We did have a first floor, 2 bedroom apartment and it was difficult for us to cart all of our heavy luggage up the stairs. The unit also had upstairs bedrooms which means we then had to cart our luggage upstairs again. We also experienced a lot of traffic noise as the lodge is on the main highway. We did ask for a change of room for our return visit and were lucky enough to get a downstairs room at the rear of the property. This was so much better! Our friends weren't as lucky and were given a first floor apartment again. Even though the staff were helpful, we found it strange (and annoying) that when we requested a room at the rear and on the ground floor(which was actually a down grade from the room we booked) we were told that we would have to arrange that through our booking agent, Expedia. This was a little annoying as we could see that there were plenty of vacant rooms.
We didn't mind staying out of town as we took advantage of the kitchen and bought supplies to cook each night. The lodge has an outdoors barbecue area which was very pleasant to use.

Room Tip: rooms at the rear are much quieter

Stayed here for two nights in a 2 bedroom condo. Bedrooms and full bathroom upstairs. large rooms with comfortable beds. Kitchen had all the basics, with stove, fridge and dishwasher.
Fireplace was nice, when it worked. Was on a 30 minute timer that only worked half the time.
Unit was clean, but dated. Had second bathroom on main floor. Never used hot tub, but it looked nice. Great for a couples weekend or a family if you don't want amenities. No pool, but 5 mins to Canmore and about 15mins to Banff. Would stay here again for sure. Great prices

We received the opportunity to stay one night here as a friend couldn't go and gave us the room. I really don't know how much it was so value for dollar is beyond my scope. The room was quite nice and very spacious. everything seemed very clean. We had a 2 bedroom with them being upstairs. A family would be very comfortable here of a week or more. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom very large. There were signs of some age and wear and tear that could have been repaired better. One of my 'pet peeves' was the timer on the fireplace. No problem with it being there...good idea actually. The problem was it was one of those old school dial timers and it ticked quite loudly. Kinda a distraction when you're quietly watching a movie and there is this tick, tick, tick going on beside you. This falls back to maintenance again. There are electronic, SILENT, timers available that are cheap and easy to use. I know it's minor but it's these attention to details that separates the good and the great places to stay. They need to step up the overall maintenance of the facility or it will begin to fall into a lower end type of accommodation.

The hotel is located in Harvie Heights which is just between Canmore and the Banff Park eastgate. So about 5 minutes to Canmore and 20 minutes to Banff. Maybe because the hotel is not in either town they offer great rates. The rooms are full size apartments with a living room and full kitchen downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. I was on my own so a bit of a waste of space but I'll bring more people next time! Nice condition and clean.

We booked for one night in October. Were amazed at the deal we got thru Expedia. Especially since we were travelling with our small dog. The room was actually a one bedroom condo with five windows all looking out on beautiful views. The front desk staff at checkin and checkout were both very friendly ladies. I'm always unsure what we are getting into when we stay at a hotel that accepts pets. But this was really beyond expectation. Very clean, quiet and quite modern. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The only regret we had staying at the Banff Boundary Lodge was that we couldn't stay longer. For a very good price, we booked a night in a one bedroom suite, which turned out to be roomy, comfortable, clean and with a well-equipped kitchen. Everything we could possibly have needed was provided. The Lodge is in a beautiful setting just outside Canmore, with mountain views at the front and back, and the whole area has a very homely, endearing atmosphere. An added bonus was the shared hot tub, from which you can look at the mountains. Finally, the receptionist was very friendly and gave us some great advice. This was the best place we stayed on our holiday out of about 9 different accommodations and would love to come back if possible in the future!

Great rates, nice privacy, even BBQ available. This condo style setup was great for us! I was able to keep it a fun, inexpensive holiday. The location between Canmore and Banff made things easy as we went to both places while there. The hot tub was nice and had a view of one of the mountain sides.
