We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend. We were visiting the Christmas markets in Brugge but wanted to stay somewhere where the car would be safe and couldn't find a suitable hotel in Bruges. We were both exhausted on this holiday so wanted to veg in the room in the evenings. The room was huge, with lovely comfortable beds. The bathroom was immaculate - it looked as if no one had ever used it before us. There was a huge shower enclosure and a separate bath. Reception staff couldn't do enough for us in helping us to find a new pair of trousers for my other half (who had split his!) and in telling us where to go to get the bus into Bruges. We wanted to stay another night and they checked the on line offer prices and matched those rather than charging us the standard rate. Would stay here - or any other Van der Valk again. We had snacks in the bar on a couple of evenings as we didn't really want a full meal and these were great too.

We were visiting Bruges for the Christmas Markets and wanted a hotel that was easy to find as we wouldn't be arriving until after 23.00 on a Friday night. This hotel was that, literally just off the motorway, but having said that, during our 2 night stay we did not hear any traffic noise at all.
Our room, no. 23 was vast, well appointed, and had a fantastic bathroom with 3 different types of shower !
A 10 minute walk took you to the centre of Oostkamp, with a small selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, and the obligatory Lidl's ! (The exact same mulled wine which Lidl's sell for £4.99 in the uk, was 99 cents a bottle, so stock up !). A half hourly bus costing 2 euros, takes you into the centre of Bruges, and as there was a dedicated bus lane for most of the way took half the time it would have taken by car, as the traffic was very busy.
Breakfast was a vast affair with every type of food on offer all for 16 euros.
As we visited in December the hotel was festooned with Christmas decorations.
My only criticism would be the decor which I would say is "germanic" - stark black and white with only the odd splash of purple. Some warmer colurs would have been nice but this is only a minor point.Thats the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5

Room Tip: Request a ground floor room in the 20's as they have their own little terrace with a table and 2 chairs, ideal in the summer months.

We really enjoyed our time at this hotel. We had a large, well appointed room which, together with the lovely adjoining bathroom, was spotlessly clean. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic value. As we didn't want a huge meal in the evening we ate in the bar on two separate occasions and found the food very good.

We liked the fact that the hotel was situated on the outskirts of Bruges, which mean't that it was very easy to get to all the other towns that we wanted to visit. The actual town of Oostkamp is a mere five minute drive away. There were plenty of restaurants there if you wanted an alternative to eating in the hotel. We also found the supermarket there was well-stocked and we were able to buy the usual bits and pieces to take home.

We will definitely use this hotel again in future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the green at the back, which is probably quieter than those which are nearer the motorway.

The hotel is not in Bruges, it’s about a 10 minute drive which will cost you 20 euros each way if you use the hotel taxi company (it’s dearer if you don’t).

There is plentiful free parking, and the quality of the hotel is superb. I guess I was there in the low season but the room was worth treble the amount I paid for it – very large, well appointed and spotless.

The price of the beers is also good, I was paying 3 or 4 euros for the Belgian bottled beers that they sell. The breakfast is fantastic, a huge buffet with an egg chef and more choice than I’ve seen in a long while – and all for 16 euros.

Overall, I think it was better and cheaper to stay here than in Bruges itself. I thoroughly recommend this place.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night - all the other hotels in Bruges city centre were fully booked so we had no choice but to stay here. This worked in our favour though as the hotel was brilliant - very clean, very fresh and just a really nice hotel!

The hotel is massive and is located just outside of Bruges - a 10 minute drive into the city centre. It's very easy to get to with a lot of access roads. There's a also a large car park with free parking. We arrived quite early and weren't able to check in until 2pm so we decided to drive into Bruges and check in later which was fine. We parked at the Bruges Centrum Train Station (2Euros for 24 hours!) and took a 5 minute bus into the city centre (4Euros each for a return ticket) - this sounds a bit of a mission but it wasn't, it was a very easy journey - everyone speaks very good english and there are a lot of people doing the same thing so you wont get lost! The bus took us directly into the Market Square of Bruges where the Christmas market is located. The Christmas market is small but very festive - it's very food oriented with some stalls selling souvenirs and christmassy gifts.

We checked into the hotel later that day and were given a ground floor room that was huge! I think this room was for disabled access but it was fine. The bedroom itself was large and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms have a safe, mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a ironing board and iron. There was also a large flat screen tea with a lot of international channels. The bathroom had a large shower area and all the usual shower cap/shower gel toiletries etc. There was also a MODERN hair dryer!! This is the first time I've seen a modern and powerful hairdryer in a hotel! We'd made dinner reservations in the evening in Bruge and the hotel staff very happily arranged a taxi for us.

Breakfast was great - a very large selection of food to suit all tastes - meats, cheese, hot and cold, smoked salmon, blinis, breads, fresh fruits, yoghurts and hot and cold drinks.

The staff at the hotel were great - very efficient, very helpful and very friendly. They all spoke excellent english.

If we go back to Bruges I would stay at this hotel again!

Room Tip: There's a fresh orange juice machine in the breakfast room - delicious!
