it was recommended by my hotel nearby. I had such high expectation, it turned out not a nice experience.
In general, the service was poor, the food lookes flashy, but taste combination is not good enough.
speaking of service, the glasses was full of finger prints which is not acceptable in this high end place. we raised this issue, the staff replaced right away. we clearly ordered menue with wine pair up, but till the starter finished, the wine hasn't come. it turned out they missed the wine order.
and later, with more guests came in, the dish serving became very slow until we lost patience.
Talking about food, i think they trying hard to combine different ingredients, but the taste doesn't actually compliment to each other. That's the most reason i think this place is overrated. the chief might not have the first class of sense of taste, so he/she failed to bring me a supprising, innovative, seamless taste and texture combination.
Btw, it cost me 400EU for a dinner for two, it over priced as well.

A perfect match between modernity and good old traditions of Austrian fine dining! A perfect transition of generations: you can feel it on the menus how Lisl Wagner-Bachar, the much awarded "chefin" is giving more and more possibilities to her sun in law, the talentuous Thomas Dorfer. With a good mood and a restaurant which is always on full house.
The three menus are based on premium products you can find in Austria and also the best of the seas. But they are serving also such a simple dish as a "Marillenknödel", wonderfully executed, which is very characteristic in the Wachau.
This restaurant is one of the greatest culinary experience of Austria. A must!
In summer, enjoy the courtyard seating. You can also try their small, but very well furnished rooms and not expensive rooms, with a wonderful breakfast.

One - if not the best restaurant in Austria. Excellent service - you feel like being part of the family. Unbelievable food quality without being over the edge trying to be inventive.
excellent all together- the best idea is to stay overnight in the cosy little rooms so you can enjoy the excellent wine selection without being scared to drive home.

I had invited on an Friday evening eight of my friends to an anniversary dinner to this great restaurant in the Wachau valley.Because we were ten I had to agree on a menu before, because of quality reasons they can only serve a menu for more than 6 persons.I choose from their diffent menus a dinner with 4 different dishes, which in reality than with the amuse geule were than 6.it was no problem to get something extra for a vegetarian or somebody who didnot like fish.
all the differnt dishes had a great feeling of taste and it was a delight of tastes.i think the restaurant is 3 star by the michelin and 4 by the gault m.we only drank the local white wines of the region,on their wine list they have all the austrian jewels and we choice one red a gabariza for the deer.the bill of 1500.- was perfect for such a dinner for 10,(including my girlfriend)
