“Unsafe to swim”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Recent newspaper reports on the condition of Porirua harbour are that the harbour is now so polluted it is unsafe to swim in. This is a tragic state of events and the local city and Regional Councils need to take action to clean it up

“A beauty especially in the early morning”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

On the weekends or public holidays is the best time to go for a cycle or a walk. I went from Tawa to Titahi Bay and back via the Harbour and enjoyed the peacefulness.

“Average sort of harbour”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The south arm (on which the Porirua city centre is located) is built around (housing or roading) over much of its length and is not particularly attractive, for swimming, wildlife or its natural beauty,. The north arm, at the Pauatahanui end is likewise built around much of its length, but retains mudflats, swamp and thus interesting birdlife. Someone (DOC?) has provided boardwalks and hides from which birdlife can be observed undisturbed. There are also picnic areas on this arm, suitable for lainching wind surfers etc, and swimming
