Ok, it is tacky and touristy, but if you are out near the airport or staying at the airport hotel you just have to eat here for the experience. Huge, this is the new Tumnak Thai, but on steroids instead of skates and roller blades!

Set alongside a lake with a huge horse statue in its centre and ducks, drakes and swans swimming around, with an associated resort with what looked like rather upmarket lakeside bungalows.

Menu is the usual extensive selection and is heavy on the seafood. Servings were generos and tasty, and food was good quality.

More surprisingly for a place like this, service and staff attitude were quite pleasant. They obviously have not yet been demoralized by rude tourist behavior.

Not cheap, but worth a visit for the experience. Hoards of Chinese the night we went (Friday).

Nice convenient location close to the airport with a nice setting around a lake with live music. But the food is poor and the service even poorer. Dishes were served in a random order, some dishes arriving 10 mins or more after the first was served. Not hot and not what we had asked for despite being with someone who was Thai and ordered in Thai. The quality of the food also poor, the fish was certainly not fresh! The fried noodles tasted like they had been cooked in a dirty stale burnt frying pan.

We went on a Friday evening around 9m which should have been one of their busiest times of the week but it was no more than 20% full.

Do NOT come here for the food!!! You will be sadly disappointed!

We when to Koh Lanta after a recommendation from family friends we had a table on the lake surrounded by Swans and Geese and hundreds of fish of different species Koo carp Cat fish etc which you can feed if you wish, The food was good we chose a table full of Thai dishes for the 4 adults and 1 child all very good we laid off the crab and prawns because they looked expensive, The staff were very attentive and helpful, There are aircraft coming in to land every few minutes a great sight the whole resort looks amazing when it turns dark and every thing lights up, Well worth a visit.

Its now nearly 4am and having just woken up with cramps and diarrhea, I'd like to share the story behind it with you:

My girlfriend and I ended up in Koh Lanta restaurant after a taxi dropped us of for a nights stopover in BKK - regretfully!!!

Decoration is a matter of taste and the planes overhead too but the alarm bells shoud start ringing when you see rhe menu: Old and cluttered with a worrying "varety" of dishes that should put You off right away.

Service: Far too many staff hanging around like headless chicken - some cleaning, some just standing around bored looking at the "lake". Four different and rather uncaring people took our orders and three others, random ones, that looked like cleaners, served us food in a revolving kind of "order", that made no sense at all! All over the place.

Cleanliness: Although all this "cleaning" was going on, the place was still littered with paper napkins from previous guests and the table sticky and not properly cleaned. Poor!

Drinks: The Margarita we had looked like a big gulp of it had been sipped off on the way to the table. Strange concoction!

The food: Portion of rice with seafood and rice with pork. What can you possibly do wrong?!! A pile of loveless, insipid "stuff" with a bit of tasteless decoration - whoops, there we go again, the decoration ... It looked like leftovers. Maybe I should have ordered the lobster instead!

The bill: With 780TB an ABSOLUTE SHAME for what you get!!!

I wonder how and why a place like this can function as a restaurant. Starting from the rediculous size of it ... It probably sits 400+ guests but was almost empty when we were there and the running costs must be huge ... ! Who opens a place like this and why?! All a little bit fishy ...
